Editorial Review. Soothing cafe serves food all day long and specializes in exotic teas; also features a week-long cooking retreat.
My favorite place for eggs benedict!. I have become a regular at Madhatters. I love the funky cool ambiance and their unsual brunch specials. I've tried the Migas, Eggs Benedict and anything that they make with lamb. All have been fabulous. Their toast and breast are so good! They are probably the only place I know that makes soft poached eggs right!
Cute place, but food not so much. I ordered the cold chicken and spinach salad with terra chips. I was excited because i love me some chicken salad and it had sprouts and tomatos on it too-yum! BUT when i got it the chicken salad was like a big hard HUGE lump stashed in between really thick bread. I could barely get my mouth around it because the chicken salad was such a lump. I was actually a little worried it was old but i was starving so i trudged thru it. It had no seasoning in it at all, there was hardly any mayo in it and the combo of the spinach and chicken was actually nauseating! The terra chips were good and the sweet tea was tasty! But overall, not impressed. and its pricey- 10 bucks for the sandwich and tea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great for studying. I love studying at Madhatters. The couches are really comfortable, there is free WiFi, and the tea selection is amazing. I really like the atmosphere and people there as well. The food is okay, but somewhat overpriced.

Mediocre Dining, Exceptional Atmosphere.
If you are looking for a place to relax in a hip and modern environment, this is the place. Madhatters is relative quiet and good for sophisticated types of people. However, if you are looking for a place to enjoy a filling meal, think again! The prices are steep and the food is mainly for a lunch or light dinner.
The biggest bonus about Madhatters is the location. This restaurant is located in the King William District, meaning fantastic places for all you art collectors and fashion elites!
They treated our group poorly!.
I brought a group there and am appalled at the service!
I made a reservation; and was told there would be no problem. Our group got there pretty promptly around 11:45a.m. only to find they gave away our tables to some other group and they didn't have any other long tables set up for ours! The young woman's excuse was they assumed our group wasn't coming;no further explanation, no apology either.
They quickly set up tables for nine ;so three in our group had to sit separately from the rest .
To make things worse the other group got "preferential treatment" while our group was "ignored" ! I am still steamed about this. The food was good though. I will not be returning in the future.
Changed for the worse. Unfortunately, the new staff turnover has proven detrimental for Madhatters. What use to be one of our favorite places is now at the bottom of our list. The service and staff use to be so friendly, attentive, and caring - not the case today. Not only was the cashier rude but when we went to order dessert after our lunch, we turned around to find our entire table completely cleared. Our drinks were still 3/4 full and our belongings still sitting there! To boot, desserts tasted stale...
A Whole lotta bread!. Today was my first time eating here. It's in a neat little atmosphere. There are several rooms to sit in. It was recommended that I try the turkey, avocado, chipotle cream cheese sandwhich. With it, I also got a salad. The sandwhich was mostly thick bread with not much in the middle. I could make a better sandwhich at home with my own sourdough bread. The salad was good....interesting flavors, and for $1.49 I got to try many flavors of herbal tea.
A lovely quiet place. Madhatters has to be my favorite restraunt. The food is always good and is usually a very unique twist to what would otherwise be mundane.
