Local Favorite.
Casual outdoor hangout. Some inside seating. Can be a little confusing to first-timers, order food inside one building, beer and wine at another building, and sit on picnic tables in between.
Highly recommend any of the burgers. The 'Cheesy Burger' is an eight dollar burger that is worth eight dollars. Two people can split one and be satisfied. Home-baked buns and they come with steak-cut fresh fries. Pan-fried apple pie thing was wonderful and unique. Easy-going crowd, often loud but in a friendly way. Weekends have live local music of a marginally underground nature, nobody really listens. Thursday nights during warm months they show outdoor movies across the street- 'Slab Cinema'. First Fridays are very crowded, but the service keeps up very well. A true local landmark for natives.
my favorite place in S.A.. my husband and i love this place! awesome beer selection at the bar - a great place to kick back in front of the fire pit on chilly evenings - friendly bartenders and waitstaff - wonderful food - the lamb sandwich is the best i've ever tasted! it's just a really cool place to be - we don't want to go anywhere else when we get the chance to go out - nothing beats it.
Try the burgers!. This is my favorite bar in SA! Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and AWESOME FOOD. Be sure to bring cash though -- the bar accepts nothing else!
La Tuna - San Anto's Hidden Secret.
Not too far from Downtown awaits a small personal bar with Texas written in it's heart and soul! Great place to get a real feel of what a Texas bar really is...bottle cap parking, easy tunes, outdoor tables, nothing but the best is beers! Great place to sit with family and/or friends and enjoy a night together!
I'd travel 3,000 miles from Seattle just to have a beer at this place!
An ice house hangout for artists, writers, northsiders, neighborhood plumbers, machinists and moms..
Cultural Connection
Situated at the crossroads between southside San Antonio's small bungalows and barrios and the trendy evolution of Southtown, La Tuna is an outdoor corner hotspot, bringing together a kaleidoscope of San Antonio personalities. Despite its identitiy as a bar, La Tuna is family-friendly and the picnic benches set out under the trees are frequently filled with two or three generations at a time. Although most nights of the week La Tuna is primarily a place for conversation under the trees, live music perks things up on the weekends.
The Drinks
La Tuna mainly specializes in an evolving assortment of ice-cold beer (including foreign favorites like Red Stripe and Pilsner Urquell). No-choice red and white wine is also available.
ONE OF THE BEST PLACES IN SAN ANTONIO. JUST THE BEST PLACE TO HANG OUT AND RELAX WITH A COLD BEER. GREAT PLACE !!!
