Editorial Review for Las Canarias Restaurant – by John Navarro

In Short
Floor-to-ceiling windows and a creamy color scheme maintain the glow of Las Canarias' crisp but comfortable two-tiered interior. An outdoor dining area satisfies diners intrigued by the Riverwalk. Entrees feature Chef Scott Cohen's exotic unions such as Texas blue crab stuffed swordfish tempura. Other signature dishes include buffalo carpaccio with herbed quinoa and squash blossom roasted corn huitlacoche soup with creme fraiche. Wash it all down with a handmade margarita.

Insider Tips

The Extras

Sunday champagne brunch, served from 10:30am to 3pm, features a virtual island-of-delights and is presented buffet style. Though a little pricey ($38 for adults, $20 for kids,) it's well worth it.

Even though they were booked the night we wanted to eat there and we had no idea to make prior reservations, the hostess was more than happy to accept us in when the place opened for dinner at 5:30PM. It was our first time there, but hopefully, it won't be our last. You get great food, fantastic service, and a wonderful view of the Riverwalk. Prices are higher than we've ever paid for, but the experience eating there was priceless!

Pros: Very Romantic

Cons: Very Expensive

Food was outstanding. My wife had the filet mignon and I had the Venison Loin both were delicious. For desert we shared the bread pudding which was perfect. The server was very attentive and helpful suggesting wines for our meal. Of course the pricing was higher than I would have liked but comparable to other high end restaurants. It was a nice 5 yr Anniversary treat.
