DON'T GO! – This place is dirty! Do not go there. I had went once before and there were roaches everywhere. I took a group of girlfriends downtown for a bachelorette party and against what I told them and they wanted to charge 10 dollars per person at the door for a group of hot chicks and it wasn't even busy. DON'T GOT THERE!
FUN PLACE! – I've been to Polly Esther's a few times with my friends and it's always a FUN time. Whether it's the 70s disco music playing or the 80s music on a separate floor, the djs get the crowd going. The drinks are really good as is the general atmosphere. Highly Recommended!
Used to be better – My wife and I went here to close out our vacation during Fiesta. We have been to Polly Esther's before and had a very good time. We both graduated in '87 so we really enjoyed the 80's music on the previous trip. This visit was definitely not as good as last year's. We spent all of our time on the "70s/80s" level, except this year about 75% of the songs played were from the 90's. I had a hard time understanding this since there is another dance level that is dedicated to the 90's. There were also no 'as advertised' $2.50 drink specials. The cover charge was jacked up, too, must have been because of Fiesta...we paid $10 each and, that was before 10pm. Everything on the Riverwalk is $$. Saying all that, we still had a good time. I would recommend to visit at least once...I just won't make it a must visit every time we are in San Antonio.
ladies night? I think not! – I was very disappointed after going here on a Wednesday night when it was supposed to be "ladies night" with no cover charge and $2 drinks. First, there was a $5 cover charge and the doorman never heard of this "ladies night". Second, the drinks were $7.50 each and not very good. Third, the 3 levels of "fun" were packed onto 1 floor upon which the dj rotated an occasional 80's song (the whole reason I went was for the 80's floor) followed by 4 or 5 trashy modern radio hits. I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND this place, if you're looking for a fun ladies night of 80's music. However, if you like trashy, bad music and overpriced drinks, this place is for you!
Fun Club – In the heart of the Alamo city. Has an attractive interior decorated to reflect the respective eras each floors music represents. Very beautiful and friendly staff which is what shocked me the most! Most venues of this stature unfortunately have a "you're here to serve us and we really don't need your business" attitude but not this place from what I've experienced. The drinks we're bad but the shots we're great!
Dance through the '70s, '80s and beyond at this funky, freewheeling Riverwalk club. – In Short
Located across the street from the Hard Rock Cafe, this Riverwalk club offers three levels of dance music and raucous reveling. This spot includes a '70s disco, an '80s room (Culture Club) and a room with high-energy, hyper-BPM dance music. Expect plenty of barely clad barflies, slick talkers and body-pressing beats. There's always some kind of special for penny pinchers, from no cover nights for Texas residents to $2 drink specials--call ahead for nightly specifics.
Polly Esther's is the THE PLACE TO BE!!! – I have been to Polly Esther's several times since my 21st birthday, and EVERY time I have gone I have had a blast!!! It is probably one of the only clubs in San Antonio that you dont have to worry about getting caught in the middle of a fight, or having to deal with 18 year olds running around. The staff is so friendly. The crowd was also very pleasing to be around. I really dont like 70's music all that much, but the 1st floor plays today's music and we were bumpn' and grindn' all night long!!!!
Make it a Polly night! – I've gone to many clubs, but Pollyesthers is always good for fun! I love watching the people as well as getting the variety of music on the three floors they have. It can get crowed a bit on the Saturday nights I've been, but it's still a blast and the place is huge. Staff was cool & the girls dancing on the bar seem to loosen people up.
Not what i was expecting – My wife and I went to Poly Esthers last Friday night. We were to dance all night, (it had been a while). We got in ,had a couple drinks and hit the floor. Not only did we hear great dance music but also a lot of songs we have not heard in a long time. Huge flashbacks of the high school years(83-87). Everyone was cool and laidback, no one was trying to be cool or show off.
We will definatly come back.
Baby Boomers Place To Be – If you were born in the era of a Baby Boomer, then this plave maybe for you. Or at least that's what I saw the night I went. I personally did not like this place. It had some good ole' time music from back in my growing pains but if I wanted to see waitresses dancing on the bar tops I would have stayed home and rented Coyote Ugly! The night I went they were supposed to have All American Hunks Male Strippers, Sorry Guys but my husband can do better! $7 for a drink plus $7.50 for parking I might as well have taken my kids to Chuck e' Cheese. I have give it a BIG THUMBS DOWN!!!!
