Editorial Review for Southwest School of Art and Craft Ursuline Sale Gallery – by Lise Harwin
The Scene
Interestingly enough, the gift shop at the Southwest School of Arts and Crafts is filled not with student work but instead with work from teachers and local, regional and national studio artists--people who make their living selling art in galleries. Artists from New York to Seattle are represented by displays of folk art, jewelry, ceramics and clothing.
The Goods
The creations sold in the gift shop are not for those who think art only belongs on the wall. These pieces are functional and decorative, contemporary and ready for use. Wear a marbleized silk tie, read by a lamp with a photo on its shade, cook with pewter utensils--it's your chance to interact with art each and every day.
