Charity Thanksgiving dinners, martial arts tournaments, speakers and, of course, conventions bring millions of visitors through the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. The 2,529-seat Lila Cockrell Theater inside hosts traditional and contemporary productions from around the world. Recent renovations have added ballrooms, galleries and meeting areas with state-of-the-art amenities.

Art of the City
Like a cross between an airport and a hotel, the new purple-and-white Convention Center has an intimacy despite its massiveness. An elaborate carpet design and a string of grottoes contain work commissioned from local artists for murals and installations. Remodeled walkways connect the Riverwalk with HemisFair Park and the Tower of the Americas, making pedestrian access easy.
