Poor excuse for a mexican restaurant. Our server delivered our margaritas which were blended in a blender this is 2006 they should have a margarita machine. They had chucks so huge you couldn't sip them through the straw, the flavor was pretty good. My husband and I ordered combination 1 and favorito and we both disappointed. The beans were dry and crusty and the the rice was spongy and the ground beef in the taco tasted no so fresh. The flour tortillas were horrible not close to homemade, I attempted to pick up my crispy taco which had been sitting on my plate for about 2 minutes when I went to pick it up it collapsed as did my husbands. The best thing about La Margaritas is location. They have the tourist market captured because I know there has got to be better Mexican food in San Antonio than what I was served last night.

What happened?. I was looking forward to going again during spring break (03/13/06) but was very disappointed with the visit. I had to ask for chips and salsa twice (finally getting it myself). We didn't get our silverware before our food was delivered and when it finally was given, we received a stack of napkins and a handful of knives and forks. We ordered fajitas for two (beef & chicken mix) and bean & cheese nachos but we received all beef and the nachos were over-cooked (both beans and cheese were extremely dry and brittle). Many of the other tables seated around us seemed to have the same experience as us (one table asked us where we got our chips, one table complained about the service to the waiter and he responsed by saying he was doing the best he could, etc.).

Bad food- forget it! Jan 06. Our Jan 2006 visit proves this is no longer "the" place downtown. Flautas were greasy and I couldn't cut the corn shell with a steak knife! They tasted microwaved. The chicken fajita plate tasted boiled, and chicken was tasteless. We had a coupon from our hotel for (we were told by the clerk) a free appetizer and dessert. The restaurant did not offer the appetizer, and only sopapillas for dessert (which were tough). Our server was trying to rush the two of us, so they could use our table for four. We werent told of any specials, drinks, or dessert. It just felt like get out. Mariachis sing for a fee, and a photographer tries to sell you a pic. (its not prom night!) Something has changed in the whole Mercado area, and this has become a "tourist" restaurant, where they don't care about return business.

You must eat here at least once while in town!!!. The food is amazing! We usually eat there 3 or more times while vacationing in San Antonio. The atmosphere is pleasant, staff is friendly, and the prices are great! There is nothing better than eating the fajitas and sipping a margarita there! They also have excellent family meals with all of the works! highly recommended!

Experience Tex-Mex cuisine in the center of downtown's historic shopping district.. In Short
On the patio, hand-painted tile tables with colorful umbrellas allow patrons a great view of busy shoppers in Market Square. Guests can also enjoy the cool indoor atmosphere, festooned Mexican-style with bright, vibrant colors. Mariachis provide lively entertainment as they serenade diners inside and out. The menu offers fajitas and other grilled-sizzling meats, fresh-made flour tortillas, flaming queso and other south-of-the-border specialties. Accompany a hearty meal with the house-specialty margaritas.

La Margarita Restaurant. I've had margaritas in many places, but I have to say that the margarita on the rocks that I had a La Margarita Restautant was in my opinion the best I ever had. The food was excellent also. I noticed many Hispanic families gathered at the restaurant, so I guess it's true when it is said that you should eat where the locals eat!

La Margarita is the BEST!. Just returned from San Antonio. La Margarita makes 'em good! I made it a point to have a margarita everywhere I went, Riverwalk AND Market Square. Food is good, even better after a couple of La Magnifica's. Price is a little steep, but quality is there! Service is really great, they aim to please!
