NOT GOOD. The service is horrible and if you go late it is so loud because of all of the drunks from Main Street. Totally annoying if you want a good quiet meal like most normal people do. The chicken fried steak wasn't bad but it was heavily battered. I wouldn't ever go back. Also, it is usually really dirty in there.

NOT THAT GREAT. HAD CHICKEN FREID STEAK IT"S BIG ABOUT 4 POUNDS OF BATTER.AND I FORGOT ,COFFE TASTED OLD TOLD THE WAITRESS STILL DID NOT GET FRESH COFFE I SHOULD OF GONE TO LUBY"S ACROSS THE STREET.

Biggest Chicken Fried Steak EVER!!!. My boyfriend and I went for our first time tonight. It was awesome! Great food from queso to chicken fried everything! My boyfriend got the Sheriff CFS. It took up the entire oval plate! All the sides had to come on a separate plate! Server was very nice and the cook was even more entertaining. Would defiantly recommend.

Best chicken fried steak. On the noisy side, but the food is worth it. Best chicken fried steak I've had in years. the burgers are out of this world. Service was good, even with a busy crowd. Plenty of food on the plate for this healthy appetite. Go there expecting a fun type atmosphere, not a romantic setting and you will enjoy the experience. The 31/2 lb sweet roll will amaze you; large and tasty. You won't find it on Jenny Craig's menu, but you will love it; I will make my way to Lulu's again.

TOO LOUD....CAN U WORKERS BE QUIET PLS?. ON MY RECENT VISIT TO THIS CAFE, MY HUSBAND AND I ORDERED OUR MEAL AND WHILE SITTING AND WAITING FOR OUR FOOD NOTICED HOW VERY LOUD ALL THE WORKERS ARE TALKING AND LAUGHING ABOUT THEIR PRIVATE LIVES. I DONT APPRECIATE THE CONSTANT OUTBURSTS OF LAUGHS AND LOUD TONES. WE PAID GOOD MONEY FOR OUR LUNCH, WHICH WAS VERY GOOD. BUT THE WORKERS NEED A CHEWING FROM THE OWNER AND OR MANAGER. IT IS CALLED,'ZIP IT 101!" IM NOT SURE IF WE WILL EVER GO BACK TO THIS CAFE DUE TO THE UNCOMFORTABLE TYPE OF PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE. IF I AM PAYING FOR MY MEAL-I WANT TO ENJOY IT AND NOT HEAR SO MUCH NO NONSENCE NOISE! THE PRICES ARE EXPENSIVE AND SHOULD BE CHEAPER FOR THE QUANTITY AND QUALITY OF FOOD. I HOPE THAT YOU MAY HAVE A BETTER EXPERIENCE THAN MY HUSBAND AND I DID. ABOUT THE CINNAMON ROLL-IT NEEDS MORE ICING!

Fried ANYTHING. Agreat local spot just north of the down town medical center. will you have the 1 1/2 pounds of chicken fried steak with nacho cheese, the cinnamon roll the size of you and your dates head, i think its 3 or 5 lbs,(huge!), or the 1 pound burger with all the trimmings. The place is always clean but still has thean run down feel to it. the staff are always friendly, but the san antonio construction makes it a litter harder to get to these days.

Good Days & Bad Days. Place to impress your guests when it comes to "size". Overall, it's pretty much you get what you paid for when it comes to quality of food and the lousy service achieved. There are good days and there are bad days when it comes to this place. The food is served hot with a little long wait time though. The service can be lousy at times.

The Scene
The inviting dining room is bright and spacious with a diner-style open kitchen. Big booths line the sides, a couple of large round tables accommodate bigger groups, and if you're dining solo, there's a long bar and plenty of animated paintings to stare at, including one of Lulu herself.
The Food
Have you ever seen a three-and-a-half-pound cinnamon roll? What else would be a suitable dessert for a pound-and-a-half chicken-fried steak? Lulu's Jailhouse cafe, whose motto is "Never trust a skinny cook," serves up massive portions of some of the finest Texas-style food available in San Antonio. Chicken-fried chicken, chicken-fried steak and award-winning, red-neck enchiladas are some of the famed dishes that keep regulars coming back. And even though Lulu's promises, "There won't be an alfalfa sprout in sight," its large selection of salads and vegetarian meals are fresh, flavorful and generous.

out of OJ & Cinnamon rolls !. we went here for Sunday Breakfast, they were out of orange juice and THE cinnamon rolls. That was a huge disappointment. The pancakes were good though.

HO HUM. SIZE IS THE ONLY IMPRESSIVE THING ABOUT THIS PLACE. THE CHICKEN FRIED STEAKS ARE JUST BREADED MEAT ------- NO SEASONING AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE CINNAMON ROOLS ARE OK BUT NOT SPECTACULAR. SERVICE IS GOOD AND ATMOSPHERE IS FAIR.
