Fancy Footwork
Have you ever wondered if it's OK to wear sandals in the winter? If it's acceptable to go out without matching your shoes and handbag? San Antonio's footwear experts at Theo & Herb can answer all your questions and help with your sole searching. The recently renovated store near the Quarry Market is packed with high-quality merchandise by designers including Stuart Weitzman, Donald J. Pliner and Kate Spade, but quality doesn't come cheap. Prices start at around $125 and range up to $400--not small change for most customers. But bargain-hunters, listen up. Twice yearly sales discount shoes as much as 70 percent off original prices.
Handbag Heaven
It's not always easy to find a purse to coordinate with your pony hair mules or microfiber heels, but at Theo & Herb, it's a distinct possibility. Many of the designers they carry offer already matching sets, though odd bags are available. Whether you need a clutch or a backpack, bejeweled or embroidered, If you're fashion-forward, you're in the right spot.

Theo & Herb has recently given space to Karen Hartley Designs. Hartley's fabulous customized jewelry designs have been appreciated by discriminating customers for years. Whether it's necklaces, earrings or bracelets, you will get unique jewelry perfectly fitting your very own personal sense of style. Karen Hartley will also custom-make jewelry (incorporating any of your suggestions) to perfectly complement specific colors and patterns of any item from your wardrobe. (I've seen her design jewelry from swatches!) It is not uncommon for Hartley to "fine tune" a piece of jewelry after there has been a change in one's hair color or length, so that piece more perfectly fits any changes made. It is not by chance that there is an nice overlap between the customers that come into THEO & HERB for fine, beautiful unique shoes and handbags, and those also looking for the same high standards of creativity in jewelry. Bottom line: what really does separate, by far, THEO & HERB from all of the other (all too common) shoe and bag stores -- is the addition of Karen Hartley Designs, which means you will never have to compromise, ever again, on what jewelry you truly desire. KH is usually off Wednesdays. On a personal note, my wife has been a loyal fan of KHD for years, and what she has brought home has been a real delight for me as well. My wife used to patronize Karen Hartley when she had her store on Jones Maltsberger (Concord Shopping Plaza). Now, she goes to THEO & HERB for "one stop shopping," as she calls it.
Pros: BEAUTIFUL SHOES, BAGS & JEWELRY
Cons: THEY CLOSE AT 5:30 P.M.
