Consummate Restaurateurs. Dear Joseph and Camille,

I cannot thank you both enough for the incredible experience at your restaurant last Friday. I was so amazed at the overall venue, delicious food and beautiful setting, and on a one hour notice, you would have thought I had been working with you all to plan this reception for weeks. Kathy was an excellent waitress and took such impeccable care of us. Every single guest was highly complementary of your restaurant and the dining experience. I am most grateful to you all and will recommend your restaurant to everyone I know in the area or that will be visiting your city. You are the consummate restaurateurs.

Nice out of the way place. I read a few reviews of this place prior to going and the one consistant view was that the meat was over cooked.

Its true.

Service was nice and the manager stopped by a couple of times...it wasnt very crowded but I will give them the benefit.

Wine list was ... lacking, although if you want a nice inexpensive dinner with a bottle of wine, its okay

I will be going back but I wont have my hopes up.

The Fellowship of San Antonio. Dear Camille,

Our group had a wonderful time, and we want to thank you for all you did to make the night a success. Many people commented on how wonderful the menu choices were, and of course they all loved the food. I truly appreciate all of your help, and we will definitely keep you in mind for future events. Have a blessed Christmas and New Year.

The perfect rehearsal dinner at Crumpets. The rehearsal dinner was everything that we had hoped it would be. The room was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the service perfect. You were correct about the rehearsal running late. The wedding party didn't arrive at Crumpet's until after 8:00 p.m. However, the wine flowed and the appetizers were served to our guests who were there at 7:30. They didn't mind that we weren't there.

Thank you for your relaxed and professional approach to our "significant" event. We wish that we had more sons to marry off so we could enjoy your hospitality again.

We would appreciate your pictures of the dining room; Tiffany is an avid photo album creator.

We will be back to dine with you in the future; we might even bring Tiffany and Jason with us. But we refuse to share the Florentines!

Best wishes for the holiday.

Top Notch Catering. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Like I said last night, the party went off without a hitch. Everything was so smooth, the food was fabulous, and the service was top notch! I have had so many compliments today, with a few people telling me this was the best party yet. (and I've been here 9 years so that's saying something).

I'm sure I will be calling you next year. Merry Christmas to you and your staff.

Not So Good. Got there today about 11:40 or so for lunch, dining room was cold (others complained later, I just wore my coat, not a huge deal - it was 45 degrees outside) and music too loud (probably great for busy dining room, not so great with only two occupied tables in the room).

Moving on...

Service was good throughout, no problems there. I ordered the beef tenderloin as I figured that it was a sure thing at a restaurant with such rave reviews. At its price point, it should have been the Cadillac for lunch.

The salad came first and was fine, though unremarkable.

The beef came and looked ok, though I immediately guessed (correctly) that the squash/zucchini/etc. medley was overdone, which I mentioned to the waitress. The potatoes were bland, at best. On to the beef - it was ok, with intermittent, minor gristle throughout. It was _not_ a great piece of beef. There was one major piece of gristle at the end that was virtually unchewable.

No urge for dessert at that point and I left shortly thereafter. Not worth $14 plus beverage, tax, and tip. As a point of contrast, I came back to Austin tonight, stopped at Central Market (yes, a glorified HEB), and got a better meal (pork tenderloin w/ potatoes au gratin and steamed spinach) for less money. Was the CM meal great? No, but it was cheaper and it's an HEB. Sorry, no return business for Crumpet's.

Diamond in the Rough. We have visited Crumpets on many occasions and always found the quality of the dishes to be above our expectations. Remember to ask for the fresh seafood of the day or any specials as we've found that they've recently come up with some new dishes which are worth trying!

The staff is attentive and professional and takes special measures to celebrate special occasions as well as to accommodate any dietary restrictions. Crumpets has a sauce that is non-fat and sugar free which goes well with chicken and beef dishes - my wife is diabetic.

Although, Crumpets is well know for it's incredible desserts, they have recently added a sugar free creme brulee' with raspberries and an AMAZING sugar free Carrot Cake. My wife had the Carrot Cake and insisted it was the best she'd ever had.

If you've never been there, my suggestions are to make your way over to Harry Wurzbach Road, enjoy the atmosphere and try the Beef Wellington - few can get it right - but, Crumpets has perfected this dish!

Thank you, Mr. Maedar for still providing a unique dining experience that leaves one looking forward to the next visit.

Kudos to you and your staff.

Hidden Treasure. My wife and I ate at Crumpets last week and the experience was top notch. My wife had the duck in a port wine sauce and I had a ribeye steak with a lobster tail. The food was cooked perfectly and the service was excellent. Everyone should try this hidden treasure!

Valentine's Day Disaster. My boyfriend was really excited about this place. He's heard nothing but great things about it. He decided to make us reservations for inside incase the weather got too cold. We pulled up and the scenery was like a little hide out in the middle of the city. We were really excited. As soon as we checked in, he got a feeling that it was not going to go well. The owner was checking us in and told him we were sitting outside. Then after ten minutes he finally got us on the list for inside. This was the first sign of no one in that place being on the same page. We finally got sat at 830 when out reservations were for 8. But we were still excited. The only speedy thing about our service was the water glasses. Our order wasn't even taken for another thirty minutes. Ten minutes after that, we finally got the bread, which was the only tasty part of the meal. My boyfriend had no water in his glass for over thirty minutes before he had to flag someone down like he was marshalling in an aircraft. Our appetizers finally made it but tasted like they were made at the beginning of the night. my soup never made it to me and when our food finally got there was after 10pm and mind you we were sat at 830. At the first bite my boyfriend took of his luke warm over cookd chicken breast, he just had to talk to the owner. He then acted like we were in wrong! Then our waitress had the nerve to tell us to come back when it wasn't a busy night. I'm pretty sure my lobster sat under a lamp for awhile. We didn't take a second bite. All of our dirty dishes and glasses sat at the end of the table the entire night. Our waitress had four tables and not once looked at us. If the service was better, we wouldn't have minded the wait. The patio looked romantic and the guitar player was the only thing that saved the night. We ended up going to Zio's where the food and service was 1000Xs better.
