Good Tex Mex in an Upscale Setting. Well, I have only eaten here once and had the chicken flautas. The setting was quite nice, but the menus were a little doggy around the edges. The menu itself was rather conventional Tex Mex which was disappointing.in that regard. The dish was well prepared and with generous proportions, especially of the avocado garnish on top. some restaurants serve a portion of about half a teaspoon as if the diner might well be allergic to it. Everything was well seasoned with the sole exception of the chicken breast in the flauta. If is prepared the traditional way by boiling all of the flavor out then shredding it and lightly seasoning it.according to my competent and knowledgeable waitress. Unfortunately, after the light but correctly hot deep frying, it was dry and not of a pleasing texture. Traditionally correct, but palpably lifeless.

The two red sauces (one roasted) were well done but milder than milk of magnesia in term so spice. Obviously to cater to the largely gringo palates that dine here. Must not shock those accustomed to meatloaf!

The margarita were a little dear, but correctly prepared.

I will go back, and hopefully by then the cream cheese stuffed jalapenos will be replaced by something more imaginative.

Staff was extremely friendly, courteous and efficient.

Previous 1- star Review Not Us!. The previous 1- star review isn't for our restaurant - it is for a completely unrelated restaurant on the Riverwalk - we're a 5-10 minutes north of there in Broadway. We've tried to have it removed but no one at City Search responds...

San Antonio's worst restaurant!!!! Waste of Money!!!. My family and I found the first mexican restaurant without a line and had a total of maybe 5 tables currently seated. The fast seating was impressive and well it was downhill after that. The waiter didn't take a drink order and just assumed that we all wanted water. Once he came back about 20 minutes later we asked for sodas which took another 20 minutes. At about an hour he took the order... The food arrived about an hour later and only half the plates were ready. In fact the guy messed up one of the orders but it was too late to correct. We spent a horrible 2.5 hours there and received terrible service. If you want a crappy meal and a 3 hour wait this is the resturant for you. I wish I could report that this is the only place that offers poor service but it seems if they have a location on the river the food and service are not a priority in San Antonio.

THIS ISN'T A REVIEW FOR OUR RESTAURANT! We are a highly successful restaurant located in Alamo Heights on Broadway. This review is for a totallly unrelated restaurant on the river called La Paloma del Rio...

Went for lunch. I very much enjoyed the food, it was timely, and quite tasty. The waitress was attentive, without being intrusive.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Frankly, getting rid of that Blanca Aldacco as hostess in the old location was a blessing. However, the food and service still suffer. In a restaurant already known to be expensive, they CHARGED ME $0.50 for a small amount of PICKLED jalapenos. They didn't even have fresh jalapenos on hand--and to charge for a simple ingredient is ridiclous.

good interior design.... good interior design. When you go in, you will see all these comfy sofas and good little tables and all these good designs, but the serves was so slow. Everything was just slow. We were waiting there for 30 min for get a seat, and 30min for a waiter to come to take the order, and 45min for the food to get on the table. The food wasn't bad, but not excellent. I would say, abve average almost, but no. Of you are enjoy this place, good for you, because me too. but for other aspect, I will not go there again. Dont give me wrong, I have been there for 3 times before I write this review. If you are will your friends and ready to enjoy the place and talk talk talk and spend time with it, there probabily will be the place to go. Bad thing for this place is the location. Difficult to make the turn, narrow entrence for turnning into this plaza, since the road was coved behind the little bump (you will know what I am talking about) so when you think you should make the turn, turn it!

An Improvement. Imagine trying to operate a good restaurant ........while serving some of the pompous "goofs" that live in Alamo Heights. Well they are pulling it off.

I just can't imagine selecting another Mexican Restaurant......unless it were Los Barrios Hacienda.

Set well off Broadway....nice outdoor spaces....attentive staff...........your hard earned money is well spent here.

Try to ignore the Alamo Heights Goofballs.....they live nearby.....and probably walked. The state legislature is considering establishing a bounty on them......maybe next year.

Not that Great!!. Average at best. Alamo Heights need to demand more from their Restaurants. Slow service and over priced food.

Great ambience & service, pretty good food!. My husband and I ate here for lunch after the San Antonio marathon, and especially loved the outdoor patio. Lots of nice landscaping and fountains, and the weather was great! On a side note, people were letting their kids play in the fountain and run around, which was relatively annoying, so I wish the restaurant manager had said something to them, but I don't know how well that would have gone over. (One of the kids accidentally threw a coin toward the fountain that ended up hitting a baby in the face!!!) Anyway, our server was great -- very personable and attentive, even brought over an extra bowl of queso on the house (which was delicious, by the way!). The enchiladas and tamales were also quite good, although not the best Mexican I've ever had. Overall, we loved the ambience and service, and the food was pretty good, too!
