Nestled among the pecan trees with expansive window seating, Boardwalk Bistro features artistically inspired Mediterranean cuisine rooted in Old World techniques with contemporary presentation. Fresh seafood is our passion. However, specialties of choice beef, lamb & poultry are always on the front burner. Bistro fare includes a multi-course chef's tasting menu, numerous vegetarian offerings, homemade soups, salads, breads and fanciful award winning desserts. The Bistro also features an amazing wine list to pair with your meal (Wine Spectator Award of Excellence ten consecutive years).…

In Short – Boardwalk Bistro's recipes may derive from traditional Mediterranean kitchens, but are frequently tweaked by owners Barbara and Randy Hunt. Lunch and dinner menus vary noticeably, and the price shift is significant as well. The Bistro caters to a mostly Alamo Heights crowd, but the unusual combinations mean almost anyone can find something on the menu.

Good place to meet or take a date

by sanantonio RN at Citysearch

The food is great here. I've come here at least 3 times, not disappointed. It's a bit expensive, so I don't come often, but it's always a treat. My husband took me here when we were first dating, it has a really romantic atmosphere. Sometimes they have live entertainment, at least they did the first time I went (on a Friday night), and that really made the visit fun. There's even vegetarian options that taste great.

  • Pros: food, service, entertainment
  • Cons: kind of pricey

good food, a little over charged

by oxygendihydride at Citysearch

I have been there for 3 times, and the food was good. The plates... were broken. Well this is bad, but you can expect your next visit is used with different plate. (All the plates on my table were different designed, as everytime) I wonder if they have more than 3 plates with the same design. Lunch was good. Sometimes you even can see and talk to the chef when you walk in. We were having a good conversation, as he was seating in front of the gate without letting me know he was the chef. Well, we were the first people arrived that day. Bad dinner place, as the menu was notthing too different but almost charge twice I feel. Good lunch place, if you want to have a nice lunch.

  • Pros: good lunch place
  • Cons: a little over charged almost

Fantastic Mediterranean Cuisine!

by olivia99 at Citysearch

Boardwalk Bistro is such a charming little escape so close to downtown! I like the daily specials.....there is always a rustic, old world style special. The lamb ragout is out of this world, as are the tagines, and boulibaisse. But I've dined on a poached salmon there as well that was impeccably prepared. Wine selections are solid. Plus live music during the week is a nice to dine by. Highly recommend!

  • Pros: The daily specials, daily wines by the glass, exotic spices and flavors spun with traditional ingredients
  • Cons: None
