Editorial Review for Stone Werks Cafe & Bar – by Noah Sternthal
In Short
The large stone patio is filled with wrought-iron tables and plastic chairs, and it's enclosed by a fence made of what looks like cement logs. Inside, the decor is rough-hewn, with a certain amount of forced sleekness, not unlike some of the habitues present. Menu items include the pecan-breaded chicken and pizza choices, like goat cheese with sun-dried tomato. Salad varieties abound.

Across the street from the Alamo Quarry Shopping Center and the Quarry Golf Course, this San Antonio eatery has a patio that cannot be beat in San Antonio. The service can be suspect, especially if your server happens to be one of the greedy and often inconsiderate servers on the premises. The food and value more than makes up for the sometimes poor service and expensive drinks (often rung up at a higher rate, if possible, by unprofessional servers seeking a higher tab and tip, at the coustomer's expense). The food can be great at times depending on who is working in the kitchen. It seems as though some of the real talent in there has left long ago, however, more often than not, you get better than average american fare. Be sure to order the Spinach Artichoke Dip with the Focaccia Bread. Also great on the appetizer menu is the Oyesters Rockefeller. As for the Lunch and Dinner options, the Pecan Crusted Chicken is outstanding as are many of the salads and sandwiches including the Baked Italian Sub and the Muffaletta as well as the Oven Roaste Deli Werks. The daily cobbler special is always outstanding and served hot on a cast iron skillet. Stonewerks is a great place to enjoy an evening with a glass of wine from their more than adequate wine list.
Pros: Good Food, Great Patio
Cons: Poor Service, Expensive Drinks, No Happy Hour

I am a repeated customer for over 3 years now at the Quarry and I still cannot understand why. The atomsphere is fabulous and the servers have such great attitudes. POSITVE! I just think to management is very unproffesional. Just from my encounter because the food took forever and it was very cold when I received it. Ive seen them take shots and stand around for god sakes. Just, over the years, I have seen a big change. I go because I like the outside and its great to go after work. 1604 ROCKS! But the live musi also ROCKS!
Pros: Live Music Thur-Sat, great food, servers are fun, great place to enjoy yourself
Cons: drinks take forever, the bar has nats, cars get broken into,
