What People Are Saying About Tong's Thai Restaurant

The Scene – Despite some confusion over the name (depending on what sign you read, it's spelled either Dtang's or Tong's), Tong's Thai is perfectly clear on what makes good Thai food: liberal spices, fresh ingredients and an atmosphere straight out of "The Jungle Book." – – The Food – The shrimp Thai basil is available in varying degrees of spicy and goes perfectly with Thai iced tea. Potato soup's thick, rich texture makes up for its less-than-authentic Thai identity. The seafood plate is enticing and exotic, with both plump shrimp and baby octopus. All lunch entrees…

Worst Thai food restaurant I've been to.

Food are not so good, salty and very pricey for the location and restaurant appearance. paid $17.00 for one of the dishes because it has shrimps. Ask for a sauce and the sauce bottle is broken ( big time chips) and still serving it, almost cut my self. Definitely not worth for the money paid. I should have taken a pictures and sure you will agree with me. Paid $ 70.00 for three people. What did we eat? we actually came out from there hungry.
The only thing I like is the Bobba (pearl drink) and the parking lot, they have a guard who looks after your car. I guess it's not really a nice location...
Great Thai Cuisine

This place has all around great food from the Thai dishes to the sushi. The set up is real nice. There is an asian island flare to it. Parking is kind of difficult if it is busy. Would recommend the basil chicken bowl.
Excellent Thai Food

The Tom Yan Koong soup was our starter and was excellent! I had the Pa Nang. It tasted very authentic and had a good strong Thai flavor to it. The spring rolls that are served with the plates are really good too. I wasn't too happy with my lumpy and cold rice though. But that's ok because the other food made up for this small disappointment. All of us at the table loved the Iced Jasmine tea. Everyone should try this cold beverages when visiting the restaurant. The serves was friendly and the atmosphere quaint.
Sushi chefs are awesome!

This place is definitely a hidden hot spot on austin highway. I come in for the sushi and sake. Danny, one of the sushi chefs, always makes me something different and delicious! The food is fresh, the sake is great, and everyone greets you with a smile. I used to eat hear before I went vegetarian, and I loved the spring rolls and soups, now that I am vegetarian, I get a new sushi experiment from danny every week. Haven't been disappointed yet. AND if you don't eat too much sushi, you'll have room for bubble tea. Its amazing! My favorite, the coconut. With extra tapioca balls:)
Good food, terrible service...

The food here is really good, my favorites are the Spring Roll, (it's soooo delicious), Pad Thai and Orange, Sesame or Special Beef. The beef is deep fried and gives it a nice texture. Again, the food is good, however the service is very, very, very slow and customer service is not one of their specialities. The waiters are not especially friendly or accomodating and quite frankly lack personality. I've also noticed that the portions have gotten smaller and smaller over the years I've been eating here. Overall, I recommend this restaurant, but be warned that the service is not great.
- Pros: Food is tasty and ambience (light and soft music) is nice...
- Cons: Service is poor... Parking is rather a tight squeeze...
