Our Stop!. Chuy's is great! If your visiting San Antonio or looking for a new place to go for something different this is the place to try. We like the Carne Montada and I think it is the special on Thursday nights you have to try it.

Great Tex-Mex with an Austin Nuance. I love this place. The food is delicious. It has an idiosyncratic Austin feel. For example, they wrap their silverware in sealed wax-paper sleeves and the waitstaff is virile and youngish, attentive college types. Chips are light, not greasy, and you have a choice of salsas. I love the fresh cut salsa made with tiny bits of tomato, jalapeno, onion, etc. It's delicious and tastes fresh, organic. Ask for the "Boom Boom" sauce (it's a delicious cheesy dip used in some of their entrees).

I always order the veggie enchiladas. Spanish rice is very good.

This is great Tex-Mex food with an organic Austin nuance. Great margaritas. The patio is small, but if you chance to get there on a breezy evening, it's worth waiting to sit outside.

Only place in town with Green Chili.... I moved here from Colorado, and was very bummed at Texas' version of Mexican food--but then I found Chuy's!! It's okay, I can stay here now... they not only have the green chili that I love, but two different versions of it, regular and Hatch green chili sauce... the food is great, the service is great, the only bad thing is that there is usually a pretty big wait, no matter what night you go. I guess that they just need to open more of them!

Great overall Texas experiance!. The thing I like best about Chuy's are the Texas Martini's. If you never had a stuffed olive before you've got to try the Texas Martini. Too bad there aren't more Chuy's in San Antonio. You can travel all over Austin and run into one! This one is inconvinently located on a busy intersection near 281 and 1604. It's the worst to try to get there before 6 pm for happy hour drinks! The food, atmosphere, and drinks are well worth the wait. If you are looking for something different try the shrimp releno. They have a pretty good veggitarian selection too, try the guac soft tacos. I also recommend ordering the creamy jalapeno sauce when they drop off your chips, it's on request only!

Good Mexican food that's a bit different.. All the food I've had at Chuy's has been great. It's good Mexican food made with Chuy's own style that makes it unique. Margarita's are also excellent.

Small portions, bland food. Has good Mexican food if the only other place you've been to was Taco Bell... It is inexpensive but the portions were child-friendly.

Serious Mexican food with a groovy edge.. The Scene
Originally established in Austin, Chuy's opened its San Antonio outpost in 1999 and it soon became a hot spot with young locals. Tributes to that oh-so Mexican cultural icon, the King (we're talking Elvis here) adorn the walls along with one of the most bizarre Dia De Los Muertos shrines anywhere. This all makes sense after finishing off one of Chuy's strong and satisfying margaritas.

The Food
The tables of the young and stylish let you know early on that this is a place to be seen eating more than it is a place to eat. But don't fret, Chuy's doesn't make you suffer culinary dystopia in exchange for its hip ambiance. Huge platters of Tex-Mex with freshly prepared Southwestern sauces dominate. You like cheese? They've got a wide selection for lactose-loving foodies including one of the most delicious vegetarian offerings available at any Mexican restaurant: the cheese chile relleno, a boon to the beef disinclined.

Good Place To Eat. This is a good place to eat if you like Mexican food. I ate two cheese enchiladas with rice and refried beans, and it tasted great! They let you choose from 5 different sauces, 2 mild, and 3 hot. The waiter was very polite, and the ambience was great. It had lots of palm trees inside(statues) :).

Wait is not bad!. Chuy's converted the spacious waiting area to tabletops and I have not had a long wait since. This is my vote for best moderately priced restaurant in San Antonio. They do have the BEST top-shelf margarita. It is the Texas martini, sized for two and they will happily serve it with two glasses. I have never had a bad meal there. The cheese chili rellenos are the best. GOOD VALUE, GOOD FOOD, GOOD SERVICE

ELVIS!!!. My fiancee was soooo excited when she saw the Chuys sign when we just moved here. The Elvis Presley Memorial Combo is as good as it gets. The food here is in huge portions, atmosphere is laid back and fun. Margaritas are tasty. We used to eat at the ones in Houston all the time, and were scared that there were not any in San Antonio.
