Editorial Review for Patricia's Day Spa – by Cheryl Van Tuyl
The Scene
A grapevine door wreath welcomes you at the limestone split-level, reminiscent of a charming old residence. Behind the door, the heady scent of lavender fills a Saltillo-tiled waiting area with a quaint fireplace, buttery leather couch and plush rug. Hardwood floors lead to the spa, overseen by a demure painted Venus. The aqua-hued downstairs facilities include multi-head Vichy showers, a mega-jet hydrotherapy tub and eucalyptus steam room. Upstairs the massage and treatment rooms are intimate, serene and bathed in natural light.
The Services
In addition to European facials, fruit-acid treatments, massage therapy, reflexology and body wraps, Patricia's offers hard-to-locate beauty treatment products such as Tend Skin, Moor Mud and St. Tropez faux tanning emulsions. Prepare for summer with anti-cellulite shaping treatments and body polishing with marine pumice and rich emollients. Patricia's also offers skin care products to help maintain spa results at home.

I get a facial about every three months and have been to 3 other spas in San Antonio besides Patricia's. The others were disappointing in comparison with poor aestheticians, noisy, crowded, anti-relaxation environments, and high-pressure sales pitches for products. Patricia's is quiet, serene and spacious with skilled employees. I can't remember the name of the male aesthetician I had on one occasion but he was excellent. He asked a few questions about the reason for my visit (relaxation, de-stress) and then made it just that, I was so relaxed I fell asleep. Relax and enjoy.
Pros: Plenty of parking, Quiet environment, Staff

I was so satisfied with my spa day I'm buying them for my gal pals! I started with a massage, which was interesting and relaxing. Hot stones combined with lightly scented oils, pleasant music and a massage therapist that was not too talky, but incredibly friendly and down-to-earth. Cucumber infused water refreshed me after my massage. My facial was great and the aesthetician offered some great advice for suncare and keeping my 30-something skin healthy. My pedicure was superb and made me feel like a princess, plus the color lasted longer than most since they didn't rush through the coat application. Lovely! One negative. The receptionist was a little short and not very friendly. But if you can get past that, you're home free.
Pros: Spacious Digs, Staff friendly, Great parking
Cons: Receptionist
