ART Massage Body Spa is heavenly! – My husband purchased the 3 hr Heavenly Retreat package at A.R.T Body Spa for me. I wasn't really sure how it would go, but I will be going back for sure! I received a massage, facial, body scrub, pedicure & a special back treatment. After it was all done, I was so relaxed that I could barely walk. I felt more like I was floating! The prices are reasonable & the people are wonderful. Thank God I found them!
Great Treatment All Around – I am a man who had never had a professional massage. After Google searching massage places in SA I chose this one because they were the only one that specifically addressed dudes on their website. After a great deal of thought and plenty of questioning my hetero street credentials, I booked a massage, actually a full package (if your going swimming, you may as well go ahead and get wet). It was incredible. I beleive the LMT's name was Vivian, but unfortunately can't quite remember. The package I went with was called "the calm".
I don't know why I have seen some negative reveiws, this place was very easy to find (I am from Tucson, AZ and unfamiliar with SA), all you have to do is actually LOOK at a map and you'll have no problem finding it, I promise you it's the only large green building on that street. The massage was NOT 60 minutes, it was at least 70 minutes, and was definitely not rushed. The pressure during the massage was absolutely perfect and Vivian did remind me couple times to let her know if it was too much pressure or too little. The reception desk was very polite and very pleasing to deal with.
I was a little apprehensive about getting a massage, but all issues I had with it were eliminated immediatly when I walked in the door and was met with a smile by all the workers in the lobby. I will definitely go back again before I drive back to Tucson in three weeks, and I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone interested.
Guys, it's o.k. to go here. It's o.k. to get massaged. It doesn't mean you're any less of a man. I now know why women go to these places, I feel great. I am looking forward to another visit.
Great experience – Received a pamper package certificate for my birthday. Haven't had a massage in over 10 years, but have never had anything more than that. Had the herbal steam, the body brush and a foot treatment, in addition to a deep tissue massage. The certificate said the tip was included, but I left extra because I had such a great experience. Would love to go back, but this isn't something I can do every month, so it will have to be a once-in-a-while thing.
Save your money for a better massage elsewhere! – I went here to get a nice relaxing massage, and got possibly the worst session of my life. I had splurged and gotten myself an hour and half session, and it was 90 minutes of lotion pushing torture. The therapist put so much lotion on my back, her hands just slid off instead of actually doing any massage! It seemed like she didn't know anything other than a basic "back and forth" technique. She would also constantly stop to apply more lotion, or to move around. I don't think she really wanted to be there and at that moment I didn't either! I didn't say anything to her, but it was so bad I will NEVER return. The receptionist was very rude when I declined to leave over $5 as a tip (umm.. yeah, worst massage ever, and I was trying to be polite) and then seemed insulted when I said I wasn't interested in buying a package or rebooking another session. There are better spas in the area, and MUCH better massage therapists. ******
This is what the owner had to write in response to me:
"I find it a shame that people are unable to communicate their unsatisfaction with a service or staff to management or owners."
- I find it a shame that I that I got a bad massage.
"It is in this communication that a business is able to grow and learn from their mistakes."
-It's not my business to teach your so called professional therapists how to do their job.
"It would have taken less time to contact me directly than to post to four different review sites and you would have gotten better results. "
-I don't care about the money, I want people to know what kind of place this is, and what kind of people work there.
"I do not find it too neccessary to publicly rant on in response to this review"
-I think you are doing that already. Very classy.
"because I have to question if just maybe this individual works "across the street"!!!
-Not a chance. I just mentioned it because it is there. I could recommend other massage chains, such as Spa D'Sante, Massage Envy, etc to clients searching for a Day Spa with a cheaper price.
"Can't seem to find you anywhere in our system."
-It's the internet, did you really think I would use my real name? Besides, now I am glad I didn't since apparently you tried to hunt me down. For what purpose?
Best Massage Ever! – I've gone to several spas in San Antonio and I absolutely love A.R.T. Massage Body Spa! It's located in a cute bungalow near downtown. The atmosphere is very relaxing and soothing. I've had excellent customer service and Tasha is the best massage therapist I've ever had. I go quite frequently and have yet to be disapointed. I will not go any where else but A.R.T. Massage Body Spa. I hope that others will find this unique spa as wonderful as I do.
Communication is Key! – This is a response to the unsatisfied customer dated 01/07/10. My name is Alison McLaughlin and am the owner of A.R.T. Massage Body Spa. I find it a shame that people are unable to communicate their unsatisfaction with a service or staff to management or owners. It is in this communication that a business is able to grow and learn from their mistakes. It would have taken less time to contact me directly than to post to four different review sites and you would have gotten better results. I do not find it too neccessary to publicly rant on in response to this review because I have to question if just maybe this individual works "across the street"!!! Can't seem to find you anywhere in our system.
Health & Happiness,
What a letdown! – I found this place online and was initially very impressed by the description, I was expecting a luxury visit in San Antonio. LOL. That's what I get for guessing in the dark, the place was far from relaxing at all! First off, it's small and kinda hard to find, not to mention there is LOUD construction on the road outside. After finally arriving through traffic and whatnot I get there to reliaze it's a tiny little house, looks like they converted an old house with interesting results? A mishmash of knickknacks and retail stuff is crammed in there, and the staff was a little pushy about trying to sell me products... I received a massage and a facial, and they were definitly subparr to be nice. No pressure during the massage, though I asked for more, and it felt like my facial was rushed and things were just slopped on my face. I have to admit I was disappointed.. It SOUNDED so good! Will not be stopping back there unfortunatly..
Best Prenatal Massage – I just had the best prenatal massage with Natasha. The location is a cute little house. It's very clean and roomy. I used the special "preggy pillow," which allowed me to lay face down. The pillow was comfortable and made it easier for Natasha to use very deep pressure on my neck, shoulders, and back. Natasha really worked out my kinks. I will definitely be going back to see her again.
The only con was that I waited 20 minutes from the time I walked in and filled out paper work until Natasha came out to get me. The people up front had failed to notify Natasha that I had arrived. But it was a minor inconvenience and will not stop me from getting a great massage. I would go to Natasha whether or not I was pregnant because she does a wonderful job and gives an excellent deep pressure massage!
Prenatal Massage – I got a gift certificate for a prenatal massage. I was worried how it would be since I have a big belly now. They use this great pillow topper that is shaped around your belly to support you. I wanted one for my house! I was seen right away and they asked about my preferences. It was very relaxing. My only complaint is that I asked the massage lady to use more pressure and she said she was not able to because the pillow topper made me so much higher up that it was hard to get more pressure. I would love to go back.
Best Spa In Town – That lady must be CRAZY!!! ART Massage Body Spa was so relaxing and I personally got massaged by the owner. I had one of the best massages ever! I showed up early and was taking back right away, the room was so cute, and all the employees were very friendly. I got the full hour plus the time I was taken in early. It was hard to walk back out in to the real world. Overall, it was a extremely pleasant experience!
