CLOSED. We walked around for an hour trying to find this place (South and North Presa are apparently two very different streets) and when we finally got there, it was all boarded up. We ended up going to Mi Tierra in El Mercado, Market Square (got a cab though, we were exhausted) and having a wonderful time. So. Go to Mi Tierra (and try the Caldo de Mercado), and skip this nonexistent husk of a restaurant.

You have to come inside to eat these days, but the diner that introduced onion rings to America endures.. The Scene
The bright pink neon pig sign used to light the sky at dozens of Pig Stand locations, now there are only three. Some locations feature jukeboxes at each vinyl-covered booth, and all the Pig Stands harbor piggy-bank collections. A San Antonio original, Pig Stand restaurants once served diners in the privacy of their own car, thanks to carhops on roller skates.

The Food
Daily lunch specials include everything from enchiladas to chicken pot pie, usually with a complement of canned veggies. The menu celebrates Texas specialties like chicken-fried steak, chicken-fried chicken and, as the name implies, various versions of pork sandwiches. Classic burgers, greasy french fries and around-the-clock breakfast highlight a menu that never changes.
