Real Mexican wares and real deals on South Alamo..
The Scene
Tienda Guadalupe has been on South Alamo since 1987, selling folk art from Mexico and Central America that ranges from fine to funky. Though 90 percent of the goods are imports, San Antonio and South Texas artists are also represented. If you figured out that El Mercado often sells cheap, poor quality imports, then you probably know about Tienda Guadalupe: This is the place to find authentic, high quality goods that really represent the art of Mexico.
The Goods
At Tienda Guadalupe, you'll get the religious artifacts, the hammered tin mirrors, the terra cotta suns and moons and the Day of the Dead art that you might find elsewhere, but it'll be more substantial, better made and nicer to look at. When you're taking home a piece of San Antonio, get it at Tienda Guadalupe and it's definitely less likely to break.
