Editorial Review for Main Street Pizza & Pasta – by Alan Carl

The Scene
Sinatra's smooth voice floats from the speakers. Kitschy paintings of vegetables hang on the wall. The color red dominates. Main Street Pizza is not a cliché--it's the platonic ideal of the pizza parlor. The New York-style pizza, calzones and focaccia sandwiches are so expertly created that, once you try them, you'll mourn the years you've wasted eating chain restaurants' sad shadows of true pizza.

The Food
New York-style pizza is defined by its thin, crunchy, almost cracker-like crust. Main Street Pizza makes an exemplary crust that audibly crunches in your mouth and complements without overwhelming the tangy tomato sauce and stringy cheese on top. For true crust lovers, the calzones are shells of just-tough-enough crust wrapped around cheese and the fillings of your choice. If you're not in a marinara mood, order a sandwich on light-as-angel-wings focaccia.

Insider Tips

Quick Lunch

Like some of its more corporate brethren, Main Street offers individual size pizzas. Of course, they far exceed the Pizza Hut-style prototypes.

Drive thru line 12pm on a week day. I was told I could not do split payment at window had to park go inside and re order- was told rudely that was the drive thru "guidelines" which mind you are NOT posted anywhere on the menu outside or anywhere around the drive thru area. After putting my whole staffs lunch on my card( mind you only ONE sandwich was requested for separate payment). I was waiting for what seemed like eternity for my food. And upon arrival back to my work I was unable to even enjoy my food in a timely matter (not there fault) and upon opening my food and all others when i was ready to eat noticed i not only received NOTHING that I ordered but in fact was $2.50 more for each sandwich! That explains the $34.00 tab! I called as soon as I could and was placed on hold and then hung up on. Then called back passed to another man who said bring back my receipt and card and he would credit my meal (mind you one single meal). I arrived shortly after with my receipt and card and was told by the SAME rude man whom took my order that i needed to return the food and that he would issue no credit! I get it I ate it but i did not order and I was treated badly from the get go, so you would assume some form of customer service would step up and take care of the situation instead of throwing back my card and receipt and slamming the window down. I guess they are so wealthy that they do not need our business nor the recommendation to my customers on where to get a quick bite! I work less than two blocks away and neither I or any of my co-workers will ever step foot or wheel near there again!!!!!!!!!

Pros: If you get what you actually ordered it is good food

Cons: the worst customer service I have EVER encountered

I looked Main Street Pizza up on line. Drove 17 miles to try them out and was not dissapointed. Staff was friendly and service was prompt. My order was to go and I was given a free Ice Tea while I waited. Only down fall was parking was tight and I did not see beer on the menu although I might of missed it (not sure). However, the pizza was very good and I highly recommend it.

Pros: crust

Cons: parking, tables close together felt cramped
