Just like the old days!.
The NEW Tycoon Flats is like the old Tycoon Flats again! yay. New owners as of 11/08. Wednesday nites are still the best for the cool crowd to hang out in the backyard and have a great time with live music. The Nachos are excellent as are the burgers!

Possesses less pretension than a french fry, which it cooks up in abundance..
The Scene
Most evenings at this joint are spent in the establishment's backyard, a picnic-tabled expanse reminiscent of family reunions. Christmas lights dangle from the trees and a much-trafficked stage features a continuous slew of local musicians. Comfortable and enduring, "Flats" draws crowds with daily drink specials and home-style food.
The Food
Patrons should know going in that this restaurant/bar, familiarly scruffy and somewhat worn on the inside, specializes in grease. The menu focuses on burger-variety standards, including sandwiches, Tex Mex and a selection of seafood. Comfort food sides include fried plantains, collard greens and cornbread. The clientele come just as much for the pitchers of strawberry margaritas and Jamaican rum punch as they do for the dinner. Decades of Trinity students have sucked their happy hours through Flats' straws.
