Editorial Review for Candlelight Coffeehouse – by Retha Oliver
The Scene
Feel free to take your meal outside to the roomy bricked patio, where cast-iron tables and chairs lay in wait. The patio is charming in the evening, when miniature lights twinkle and candles dance. Solo diners should prepare to be ogled.
The Food
One of the more diverse hangouts on North St. Mary's, Candlelight caters to a wide range of customers. The Coffeehouse is known for its luscious, rich desserts, fresh sandwiches and salads. Order at the bar from the menu listed on the chalkboard; in addition to coffees and teas, which can be purchased by the canister as well as by the cup, Candlelight also features a wine list.

Some of my friends and I decided to go over there for dinner. First of all, they told us we would wait for 45 minutes-an hour for a table inside and turned out that they asked us to eat outside (even though it was cold). They made us get up ourselves to order and pay and they tried charging us more for what we ordered. The staff had a bad attitude and when I looked at the charges to my credit card online I noticed they charged me even MORE than I'd signed for in my receipt. The food wasn't that good either.. definitely not the 30 dlrs they charged me for it!
Pros: ambiance
Cons: everything else!

This is a great place! Perfect for a romantic get away where you can snuggle with your sweetie on one of the old couches, or hide on the patio and listen to the frogs in the pond by the twinkle of lights. Great for times you need alone time to recharge by reading a book and sipping a cup of coffee/tea. The staff will never rush you - even if you haven't ordered more than that cup of joe and have been hanging around for hours. The patio (there are three of them!) is great for a group of friends to get together where you can be loud and boisterous. It's good for the after date stop for a glass of wine or a decadent dessert. The food is always top notch, with the specials hardly repeated. The wine list is long, the beer list eclectic, and the coffee always hot, fresh and tasty. Sunday brunch is more family oriented, and evening more adult. Crowd is a mix of ages, ethnicities, and orientations - and all mingle nicely. My favorite place in town!
Pros: Ambience, food, wine
Cons: parking
