29.446572 -98.494218I am from India, i love this bar on many Saturdays. DJ Crystal is very nice looking and i would like to give her sex very much. Thank you.
Looove it!. So I've noticed that there hasn't been a review for The Silver Dollar in a long time. Well, I'm here to say that I understand all your concerns but there is no more need! I've been going every single weekend since New Years! I absolutely love it! The staff is friendly and fun and they accept everyone! There are various bars that play various music so there's something for everyone! The place has be reinnovated and many of the complaints I see here have been addressed. Like I said, I go everyyyy weekend and I LOVE it! :D
its not country.
bad bathrooms no soap no paper just all dirty
they never play country and go figure its called silver dollar saloon ha! it would be a better place if they played country as much as they do mexican music. this is texas for pete sake! im dissapointed that there isnt a country bar for gays and lesbians .
Not a country bar and can't breathe. I heard that this used to be a great place years ago so I thought I'd check it out for the first time. What a disappointment. The name of the bar is misleading. It is NOT a country bar anymore. It plays only spanish latin music and 99% of its clients are Mexican. Not a cowboy bar at all. No ventilation and the smoke is heavy. I couldn't stand it more than 20 minutes.
My favorite place to go!. This is a very casual place with lots of great music, great drag shows and good people! I love the bartenders there, especially the female, she makes the best Bloody Mary's! If you are not into the fussy crowds, cover charge, over priced drinks, and limited parking, then this is the place to go! Bring your friends and bring cash (thats all they take) cause it's certainly a place to come by and visit and even perhaps make it your regular stop!
Could be better. "The first impression is always a lasting impression". It's obvious management never heard of this phrase. The first person I saw was the door guy, who was was rude and obnoxious. When I entered the club it seemed to be alittle "rundown". It definately needs to be fixed up. The restrooms are terrible. Outhouses smell better and look a lot better at that. The floors in the restroom were wet and had at least 2 inches of water on the floor. I would think with the amount of patrons that frequent the Silver Dollar, it would make enough money for renovations. Overall, the music was ok and the bartenders were courteous (at least to males).
Very disappointing. We were grossly disappointed with this bar. We went on the notion they were a C&W bar, but they played mostly mexican music and didn't stray to much of anything else. The main thing C&W about it was some of the "cowboys" in there. The bartenders were excellent. There is never a cover, and they have good drink specials. They do not accept credit cards, as we found out the hard way, and the coat check situation is a joke. The music was RIDICULOUSLY loud...it didn't make any sense for it to be blaring at that volume. It gets so dangerously crowded around midnight that even the fire marshall wouldn't be able to move in there. The dancefloor was small, and the "light show" consisted of blinking multicolored icicle christmas lights and a few single colored strands of lights that were tacked to the wall. They blinked according to a flasher bulb in the lights, and not to any particular beat. They really need to invest some money into that bar for improvements (such as a floor other than asphalt) and a decent light show, as well as a better variety of music and for someone to monitor the overcrowding.
Urban cowboy-only honky-tonk; cowgirls need not apply..
The Scene
At this old-style cowboy saloon, men of mixed ages dressed in Wranglers, Tony Lama's and ten-gallon hats play pool, two-step or sit underneath the dim light of neon beer signs. While it does take the cowboy motif to an extreme (bar-backs are quick to admit they hate having to wear the cowboy hats; life-sized silhouettes of cowboys and horses decorate the pool room), you might not realize that the Silver Dollar is a gay bar until you see the men two-stepping together.
The Vibe
This is a fun, friendly, laid-back place. The music is just quiet enough to allow for conversation and hospitality is just southern enough to make certain that new arrivals don't feel like strangers. Of course, the reasonable drink prices and regular drink specials don't hurt.
The Best Br. They play the differnet music, and the bartenders are the best as well as the bar backs and the security person in the front. I never had any problems there.
