this b&b is too controlled. this b&b is too controlled. can't eat in room. hefty fee for leaving early. studio not worth the money at all. musty smell. loud a/c unit.
disappointing B & B. I was really disappointed with Bonner having read all the reviews. The room was nice, but this is definitely not a place to be if you need to have a good communication network. There is no internet connection and unless you bring a cell phone along, no one is allowed to call you past 11pm (otherwise they'll get a rude response). Especially since the owners go to bed early and I felt that I had to tip toe around the house after that. The breakfast was extremely disppointing, with only a small serving of one muffin and a boiled egg and juice. It defintely wasn't up to standard for me considering we paid $130++ for this and one could definitely find a finer place and better service for that price.
Style and seclusion in a quiet neighborhood..
The Scene
This 4,000-square-foot Italian-style inn resides in a quiet neighborhood populated with historic turn-of-the-20th-century homes. It was built in 1910 as the private residence of artist Mary Bonner, whose pieces fill the inn. Additional antiques cement the elegant, exotic tone, from an 1860 Indonesian secretary to a dining table that once served at the British Embassy in Copenhagen. Guest rooms also showcase antiques--even in the small Ancestors Room, which displays unique Chinese woodcarvings.
The Details
Guest rooms range from fancy to functional, but all embrace a sense of style and grace. The Bridal Suite, with its Battenburg lace curtains and Jacuzzi tub, is a favorite with couples. For the ultimate in privacy, The Studio (Mary Bonner's former art studio) stands as a separate stone building decorated in Southwestern style with hand-carved Mexican furniture.
Extraordinary to say the least. My family frequents Bonner Garden when we visit Trinity University. It is our favorite place to stay anywhere in Texas. Jan and Nolle are the most wonderful hosts and I can think of no other hotel or bed and breakfast that has such good service and atmosphere. The breakfast is amazing and so is the house. Keep up the good work you guys, it's inrediable. We'll see you next semester for sure!
