Editorial Review for Brackenridge Park – by Scott Weier
The Lure
While this 100-year-old park does get busy on weekends, there's more than enough room--and facilities--to accommodate the multitude of visitors. The San Antonio Zoo, Brackenridge Municipal Golf Course and the spectacular Japanese Tea Gardens all call this park home.
The Goods
Brackenridge Park offers standard park fare such as playing fields, picnic facilities, paved and unpaved trails, and playgrounds. There's no pool, but there are basketball courts. The park's enormous size makes it ideal for runners, bikers and hikers, but cracked roads and heavy traffic make it a poor choice for in-line skaters. Don't stay after dark unless you're looking for trouble--or trying to reserve a picnic table for a holiday weekend.
