Great for the family. They have done so much to this place over the last decade. My kids are old enough now to enjoy this place but I remember the old skyline ride and the poplar bears. There's been a ton of updates to this place that makes it a world class zoo. The kid's park is set up nice.

Since 1914 animals from around the world have called this San Antonio spot home.. Overview
When you enter the zoo you'll receive a map to the habitats of more than 3,500 amazing animals. When your legs need a rest, park-like shaded areas are perfect for picnics. Youngsters could spend hours in the children's zoo, petting and feeding llamas, sheep and goats or just romping around the playground.

The Experience
Go on safari along winding paths to see the wild animals of Africa, including lions, giraffes, zebras, elephants and even a family of rhinos. Experience where they eat, sleep and play in realistic and almost natural habitats. Enter the aquarium and imagine yourself underwater swimming with stingrays or playing with seals. Plus, visit the bears, big cats and reptiles from just a few, safe yards away. A big winner with the kids is Lori Landing, an interactive exhibit in which visitors get to feed nectar to the very friendly jewel-colored birds.

For a lazy day .... be sure to include this zoo. Despite its relatively small size, we were unable to see it all in 4-hours. The facility was clean, the staff cheerful, the animals interactive.

Awe-inspiring. The San Antonio Zoo is one of the cleanest zoo's I have been to. It has great displays, and the animals are happy!

Hide out. Huge zoo, petting area, volunteers that walk around with pets for education. Decent eats and the animal areas are clean and spacious. Get a family membership and go often. Great place for young mothers with strollers.

excellent zoo. A great place for a family outing! Attractive and humane setting for the animals. In addition, there is a great train ride around the park and a boat trip through an exhibit. The zoo has excellent classes for toddlers through school age children. The zoo is a wonderful benefactor to many fundraisers offering many festivals within its location that just adds to the fun! The only complaint is a lack of places for little children ages 2-6 yrs. to stand and look at the animals.
