IT IS NOT FOR ME. The store is dark and dusty not very well organized. Stuff piled up all over the places and you can barely walk around. Their stuff looks to me like left over from another resale shop. They do have a large area with lot of music CDs old albums and books etc. If that is what you are interested. It is a waste of time for me.
In the gamble that is thrift store shopping, this is one store that can pay off big..
Books and Music
Music and books are undoubtedly the best reason to visit the Youth Alternatives. The records are stored properly: vertically and not too tightly packed. You might also get lucky and find a pristine box of albums dropped off by someone unloading an entire collection. Many of the books are donated by a well-known chain store, so the titles are more intriguing than the usual Jacqueline Susann fare.
Armoirs and Stairmasters
The next best reason to put this store at the top of a thrift-crawl along West Avenue is that occasionally pieces of really good furniture end up on the floor at really good prices. It may take a few visits to find a big item, but the ticket will be well below neighboring stores.
Rare Finds
Most of the stock is visible immediately, but one might easily overlook the collection of unusual items to the left. It resembles a stockroom, but everything is for sale. It's the area the store uses for anything that might be collectible or rare, so the tags are kicked up to standard thrift prices.
