It's now called Sherry's Texan Seafood. They changed the menu up a bit, but the food tastes the same. It's less greasy. They have a different owner now. But I have to admit, I did notice that the staff is friendlier towards the white customers instead of the hispanics. Everytime a white customer came in, they were greeted. But hispanics weren't greeted. What's up with that?
Filthy. I've been here a couple of times & the food was good enough, after all everything is practically fried here. But the last time we went the place was semi-crowded w/a couple of family tables put together. They were short staffed so it made it seem busy. So we waited for our drinks, thats when we had time to notice just how dirty the place is, from the floors to the chairs & utensils. My friend decided to use the ladies room--bad idea! She came out said to get my purse cuz we were leaving! I asked what's wrong? She said the bthroom was so filthy that there was no way the kitchen could be clean. She then told the manager on the way out. That was the last thing she wanted to hear & everyone else! We'll never go back, you can be old but you don't have to be dirty!
BEST SHRIMP IN THE WORLD.
I was born and raised on the southside of San Antonio and moved when I was 24. The Texans resturant was owend by an older couple for years and sold to two brothers about 25-30 years ago. The building is the exact same and it's contents. The only difference is they moved the kitchen to the right side of the building, everything else is the exact same. The food is the same as well and I am still here to tell you (at 51) I still go to the Texan Resturant just for the shrimp. I have taken several generations of family members and friends and it is always the same for them (The best shrimp they have ever eaten) We just resently moved from Dallas to Lavernia (We were in Dallas about 11 years) and I drive 45 minutes to eat there. I have taken friends from Dallas and from The Dominic Repubic there, and they have never tasted better shrimp than The Texans. The price for what you get is absolutely wonderful. They also have wonderful frog legs as well.
So, make a trip, it will be worth your while. What use to be a great resturant is now the BEST LITTLE HOLE IN THE GROUND you will ever find.
Thank you guys, for all the wonderful years at the Texan.
