The Scene
Just six blocks from the River Walk, The Painted Lady is a one-of-a-kind find. Many of the nine guest rooms are named for some of history's most adventuresome characters, from Mae West, Amelia Earhart and Oscar Wilde to Andy Warhol, Liberace and Leonardo Da Vinci. Each room is decorated to reflect the style of the artist it is named after.
The Details
In-room amenities are abundant. Entertainment includes DVDs or VCRs and a stereo with a CD player. Conveniences include refrigerators, microwaves, coffeemakers, hair dryers and telephones with voicemail. If you're looking to add a little something special to your stay, simply ask the staff. They are more than happy to arrange a spectacular flower arrangement or massage appointment. Satisfy your taste buds with chocolate-covered strawberries or a fruit and cheese platter, or see the town in style with a horse-drawn carriage ride.

I was greatly impressed with The Painted Lady! It is very romantic, charming and afforadable. We stayed in the Liberace room (which is not even the inn's best room), and it was much better than I expected. The room was spacious, the bed was great and the shower was hot and high-pressure. The inn's roof-top Jacuzzi is romantic and private -- and you can reserve it for just the two of you. The service was personalized and perfect. I highly recommend The Painted Lady to romantic couples. The only caution is that it is not in the best location. The area is a little sketchy, but not dangerous. I would recommend a car to drive the short distance (less than 5 min) back and forth from the riverwalk. I have no hesitation in returning -- now I have to think of reasons to go back to San Antonio!
Pros: Very Romantic, Rooftop Jacuzzi, Great Value for $
Cons: Location Not Perfect, No Gym or Pool, No Views
