What once housed a brewing company is now ground zero for appreciating art from practically everywhere..
The Scene
The museum is housed in what was once the Lone Star brewery, constructed in 1884. The four-level building was converted to the museum in 1981 and has since hosted such events as the Asian New Year Festival and family art classes.
The Collection
The San Antonio Museum of Art is one of the most comprehensive art museums in the country. Prehistoric art, Roman statuary, Egyptian mummies and Islamic art make up a fabulous collection of antiquities. The Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Latin American Art is housed in the museum and is the most extensive collection of Latin American art and research in the nation. The four-level museum attracts the same touring exhibitions shown in New York and the Louvre in Paris. Visitors will also find a large collection of American and European paintings and modern art.
One Visit is'nt enough!!!. I had no idea San Antonio has such awe-strucking works of Art, paintings, sculptures (Greek, Roman, Asian, Indian, Eroupian, Native American, African, Oceanic, Russian, and more!!!) Its amazing, and it only costs $4 and has a snack bar!... you're even aloud to take a camera and take photographs!, the gift shop is incredible too!
