Editorial Review for Rome's Pizza – by Lise Harwin
The Scene
The atmosphere is uninspiring, and the location is suburban strip mall, but the pizza is simply scrumptious. Rome's--creating exotic pizzas using both traditional and offbeat ingredients--comes up with a winner each time. Rosemary roasted new potatoes on a pie? You'd be amazed.
The Food
Out of 15 pizzas listed on the menu, nine are vegetarian, making Rome's an excellent choice for the animal-friendly. During the week, Rome's offers a stromboli special: One can order the meat-filled classico or the stromboli of the day, which is always vegetarian. Or check out the delicious eggplant parmesan sandwich for a change of pace. For those with a Mediterranean yen, Rome's offers tangy, tahini-smothered falafel, hummus and pitas, dolmas and a Mediterranean Greek pizza with gyro meat. Don't be afraid to skip the red sauce--the pesto and white pizza varieties hold up just fine.

Feeding the MassesFeeding a crowd? Order a 2-foot-long stromboli, but don't forget to call five hours in advance.

My girlfriend and I have tried to go to the Bitters location several times. We have arrived there after 11 and the store was not open on at least three different occassions. The store not opening on time has also occured when I went to take my parents. The store serves good pizza, but since I only have an hour lunch break from work I cannot wait for fifteen to twenty minutes for the store to open. The service is mediocre and the employees are not friendly. The only perk is the food, which I can certainly live without. If you are planning to go to Rome's I would definately suggest the DeZavala location instead. The service at that location is much better, friendlier, and faster.
Pros: Good pizza
Cons: Store opens late and workers are not friendly

This is not really a review as I arrived at the Bitters Rd. location AFTER the store was to have opened. I waited out on the patio for almost ten minutes and walked to the door at least three times. I feel sure that I was noticed by the employees inside. At 11:15 my family and I then decided to go to a nearby restaurant where we ate their pizza (for the first time). Our dining experience at the competitor was so delightful I do not think we will attempt to dine at the Bitters location ever again (although we will return to the DeZavala location).
Cons: Consistently late opening
