Awesome Wedding. We had our wedding here a few years ago October 2008. It was the most amazing day of our lives until we had our son this past year. We got married in the woods at sunset and there were candles and white flowers everywhere. It looked like something out of a magazine. The staff was great and the property was more than words can describe. We used the little cedar casitas (I think that's what there called) to have different food stations instead of one straight line, a band, a cigar bar and more. If I was allotted more characters I would go on and on 5 stars for us it really was a dream wedding and reception.
BEWARE!!! Victoria's Black Swan Inn will ruin your wedding day!!!. We decided to schedule our February wedding here a few years ago and it was a nightmare!! First, the staff at Victoria's Black Swan Inn tried to raise the prices 3 weeks before the wedding and we almost had to cancel our wedding altogether- after already sending out the invitations! We were able to come to an agreement and follow through with wedding at the Inn, only because I did not want to face the humiliation of rescheduling the wedding. The staff made all sorts of promises about how wonderful the event will be, but they were lying. I have never been so humiliated. First, the Inn insisted on keeping their CHRISTMAS florals as decorations although it was FEBRUARY! All of my wedding pictures have poinsettias in the background! Then, they would not turn the air conditioner on- all of my guests were sweating throughout the ceremony! The guests sitting near the back during the ceremony later told me how the Inn staff were yelling and cursing outside DURING the ceremony. During the food buffet service, my guests were not allowed to go back for a second plate UNLESS they reused their dirty plates (to keep a head count, stated the staff)!! The wedding coordinator rushed us through the reception and then told my husband and I that we sould start heading out and the guests can continue to celebrate after we left since we had the Inn for another TWO hours. To my horror, I later found out that the Inn staff had the DJ cut off the music and told all of my guests that they had to leave as soon as we drove away. Luckily, i never had any illusions about a "dream wedding", but I never expected such humiliation for myself, my husband, my friends and my family.
NOT WORTH THE PRICE. horrible service....no parking.....not at all what the pictures showed...not worth the price...i went to a babyshower here and there was practically no service, bad food and no circiulating air...horrible...i was surrounded by great family and friends that managed to save the nice atmosphere but the VBSI was not worth the price
Beautiful location, lovely experience. I recently had my wedding at the Black Swann Inn and found JoAnn extremely helpful in guiding the events of the day. I had no idea what to do when and she was always right there to let us know what was next. The food was great and every one of our guests had compliments about the house and surrounding gardens. JoAnn also so graciously helped me out when I didn't have "something borrowed" by lending me her grandmother's ring. I can say that I actually enjoyed my wedding and that all of my guests did as well.
Not that great. The owner of Victoria's Black Swan inn in San Antonio made many promises as far as making the reception just wonderful. She promised to help guide the reception, have a plate ready for us (the bride & groon), take care of the order of events (bouquet throwing, etc). The owner did not show up the day of our wedding. She did not call. She did not find a suitable replacement. We did not get to eat and the father of the bridge (who paid a pretty penny to have it at this establishment) did not get to eat. We did not know when or how to cut the cake, do the first dance, toss the bouquet, etc. --She had promised to guide us throw "everything." I do not recommend this location.
Loved it. I had my wedding and reception here and I loved it. I found the prices to be reasonable especially after I found all the hidden costs and misc. rentals at other venues. The owner was upfront about the cost and nothing was added or "hidden". The service was great and the owner was extremely helpful in coordinating my event with other vendors as well as making suggestions on whom to use for music, flowers etc... My wedding was on a hotter than hell day and the house was a bit warm however I would recommend this location to anyone whos looking for a romantic secluded setting.
Don't Waste Time / Money. In the photographs, the facility looks lovely. In reality it is falling apart. We drove two hundred miles to check this place out for a 25 year anniversary party. while attending the wedding of our neice. During the day dogs run loose so gues what is all over the lawn? The owner is often in trouble for not providing the services paid for. The establishment is notorious for changing arrangements at the last minute and raising the prices just before the event when it is too late to do anything about it. The food at the reception was tasteless and the service left a lot to be desired, especially at those high prices.
