I think you will be very pleased with the plans for Pecan Valley Golf Club. Check out this link: .thevalorclub(dot)com. These veterans, who have risked life and limb to protect the freedoms we enjoy, deserve this project. Your support in seeing that this project goes forward would truly help make San Antonio the true Military USA that it is described and what a gem to have in the Southside with a location that is so near to all the facilities our wounded warriors need to visit. This shows San Antonio's willingness to give up an elite historical golf course (that lost money for it's last three owners) in honor of the veterans who call San Antonio home and will no doubt give a positive impact nationwide by setting an example for others to follow.
Classic Course - One of the best in San Antonio.
A very nice golf course located on the South side of San Antonio. Lots of history and a classic design.
Difficulty: A challenging course that will test experience players from the back tees (over 7000 yds). Fast greens and a fair share of bunkers, water, and tall trees make par a very good score.
Conditions: The greens are very fast and smooth. Some of the best Bermuda greens I have played on. Fairways and rough are always cut. Bunkers aren't the greatest but not worth complaining about.
If you haven't played at Pecan yet, you need to check it out. Prices are very reasonable (especially in the afternoons) and it's worth every penny.

Big improvements bring this legendary course back to prominence..
The Money Shot
This 18-hole, par 71 course boasts a new renovation for the year 2000. The owners just dropped 6 million bucks to completely refurbish the entire golf club, including new fairways, new greens, and an entirely new clubhouse. They probably even had cash left over to put in a really, really nice ball-cleaning doohickey.
The Hall of Fame
Before the major outlay of cash, however, Pecan Valley already had a lot going for it. A beautifully natural tree-lined course with undulating greens, the course is also a historical monument to golf legends of the past. One of the oldest golf courses in San Antonio, it has hosted three Texas Opens and was the home of 1968 PGA Championship. This is your chance to walk in the footsteps of The Golden Bear, Arnie, and Chi Chi.
Don't Be Intimidated
Four sets of tees adhere to various skill levels, allowing visitors to Pecan Valley an enjoyable and appropriately challenging golf experience. Other amenities include golf lessons by PGA pros, a putting green, driving range, and facilities for whatever event you can think up.
