The Only Good Thing Were the French Fries. We visited for lunch and as soon as we sat down, we were served a salad. It consisted of whole Baby Carrot, on Cherry Tomato, red cabbage, and the bitter white part of the lettuce. Then, we order Chicken Fried Steak and a baked potato, each. For the two kids we ordered hot dogs. The baked potatoes were over-cooked and dry, served with cold bacon bits, sour cream and cheese. The Chicken Fried Steak was over-cooked and soggy/greasy in the middle. The two hot dogs we order for the kids tasted like they were cooked using burnt grease. Even though the waitress was very pleasant, I can assure you there will be no return visit.

Went in for dinner on Friday night Dec 23 and was surprised to find the place not very busy. People were everywhere and every other place was packed. The waitress was rushed and didn’t spend any time telling us about anything. We ordered and soon I got my steak, The cook must love Season Salt because he put so much on the meat that it turned the plate red. I complained and the waitress said the cook could grill the steak a little longer to kill the flavor. I declined. I didn’t want a steak that was over cooked and over seasoned. The manager never came to the table and no one else dared ask how the meal was.
We had to flag down wait staff for refills and even to get the check (never mind asking us about dessert). I had a beautiful cut of meat, grilled to perfection, and spoiled by too much season salt and a wait staff that would rather stand around and look at empty tables than work for happy customers. I’m glad they are on the other side of town so I won’t be tempted to try them again. Great place if you love season salt!!!!
Hungry Farmer. We went here with a large group of work guys. Service and food were good and speedy, priced right. This isn't Ruth Chris or Del Frisco's. Just a decent affordable lunch.
Horrible Place. You walk into this terrible restaurant, and you are given a bowl of salad and a container of ranch dressing. Now that is a novel idea to entertain you while you browse through the menu, but I don't like ranch dressing. Because there was nothing to indicate more was available, I never thought to ask. I ate it because I thought that was all there was. Never once did the waitress mention other dressings were available, and it wasn't until we walked out that we saw a sign that said there were other dressings available. Now why wasn't that someplace more viewable? Now along with that forced upon salad you get an entree and ONE choice of side dish. Well, OK. I wanted onion rings and fried okra. The waitress let it be known that the okra would be $3.95 extra!! I cut the okra and kept the onion rings. Bad decision! The onion rings were not fresh made, but the frozen kind that are so horrid. My husband ordered a cowboy steak. He wanted mushrooms with it, and the charge for them was $7.00!! Seven!! How many restaurants have you gone to where the entree is that price, much less a side? His steak was not very big, and certainly not cooked over a fire of any sort. It appeared that they painted the steak with liquid smoke and pan grilled it. Just horrible. Our bill for lunch was $37!! We will never, ever go back to this restaurant, and my advice to you would be to find something better. Anything. By the way, you can tell that the person that wrote the raving good review here was the owner.
Great food, great service!. This place is a favorite of mine... It is really simple and really tasty. If you are craving some home cooked fare, this is the place for you! The service is wonderful, by the way. I think it is safe to say that the person who wrote the negative remarks is someone who is way too into themselves and expects to be waited on hand and foot. Not the case, folks. Every occasion I have had there -- and at the burger joint -- it has been quick, pleasant and delicious.
Steaks, Burgers and an Aggie Night.
There are two Hungry Farmer Steakhouse's. It's a family owned business but both are a little different there was another location off pat booker but it's no longer open. Both also have another restaurant in them it's Uncle Barney's Old Fashion Hamburgers, they have great burgers and their big too, not expensive either. You can get a hamburger, fries and a drink for just over six dollars. They also have great onion rings. The meat is never frozen and it's all made to order, nothing is cooked in advanced, and the steak at the Hungry Farmer are all hand cut by their own butcher. They also have a patio outside at the Blanco location. Plus right now on Tuesdays and Thursdays it's T-Bone Days buy one T-Bone get one half price. The steak house also has good seafood. It's a great place to take kids to, and they are real tolerant of larger parties.

Horrible customer service: Blanco Rd Branch. This steak house has pretty good food, the wait staff is nice but not very knowledgeable. The manager and owner are unhelpful and have no customer service skills. We were actually rudely treated by the owner. I would never recomend this resturant to anyone who is looking for a good meal with good service.
Gather 'round. Pleasant atmosphere, fun for kids. Has interesting wall decor. Service is friendly and quick. Food is very good for the price.
