Editorial Review for Aldo's Ristorante Italiano – by Robert Macias
The Scene
With lush landscaping outside and homey charm within, the restaurant draws wealthy retired folks as well as couples on special-occasion dates. Dressed neatly in ties and slacks, the waiters are mostly middle-aged men, true professionals who fuss about little details such as moving the sugar closer to your coffee cup.
The Food
Topped with arugula and shaved parmesan, the slices of beef tenderloin on the carpaccio di filetto appetizer are so razor-thin that it can be hard to scoop them up off the plate, but it's worth the effort. Snapper di Aldo, owner Aldo Ghaffari's signature dish, is a delicate fillet served with artichoke hearts, mushrooms, and tomatoes in a white wine sauce. Beef lovers can't go wrong with the scallopine caprusso, a tender cut of veal smothered in a pleasantly tangy marsala sauce and mushrooms on a bed of spinach. Remember to leave a little room for the light, fluffy tiramisu.

Insider Tips
Where to SitSit inside if it's anywhere near rush hour. While the foliage on the patio provides a buffer, the traffic noise can still be a distraction.
Look GoodCoat and tie recommended but not required.
The ExtrasA piano player tickles the keys in the centrally located bar and waiting area from 7pm to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays. This is also where you'll find a blazing fireplace in cool weather.

spend you dinner money elsewhere!! well, we tried aldos for the second time, and, the wait staff was rude to us, again! we are both in our 40's and dress appropriately for dinner out, so i am not sure why we had two different waiters that were smart-mouthed and almost rude, first of all we ordered chilled wine; the bottle was brought to us and wine was poured..and the cold bottle sat on our table for almost 15 minutes, we finally asked for a ice bucket and one was brought. when we ordered our meal the waiter stuck(yes, stuck) the menus right up into my husbands face my husband said i know what i want to order, you really don't need to do that. at the salad course, the waiter came to my left and cracked black pepper on the salad, then asked my husband(who was on my right) if he wanted some, he said yes, then this waiter reached right across my face with his arm to grind my husbands pepper and i said , please don't do that!! and i pushed his arm away, he should have gone around the table ,not reached right in front of me. good waitstaff knows better than to do these things! i suspect that if you come in there with a large party, or are VERY well dressed, and a regular, the service would be better, and i find it very interesting that at the very end of the meal, all of a sudden the waiters (on both occasions) got much more friendly ...can you spell tip-time??. needless to say, we do not plan to return, there are much better italian places to dine in san antonio
Pros: good foot
Cons: bad service

Food was good but our server was not very helpful or prompt. He took too long to take our order. We asked for a wine menu and he only told us two wines they offerred and did not bring us a wine menu. The food was good we just had a terrible server. I also did not appreciate how disrespectful they were when I walked in and one of the wait staff looked at me up and down never even greeted me--you figure that one out.
Pros: Good food, Nice Atmosphere
Cons: Terrible Service, Disrespectful Service
