Editorial Review for Omni San Antonio Hotel – by Gayot.com

The Scene
This 326-room hotel is part of the Colonnade Complex, which is known for its boutique shopping and dining. It soars like a granite centerpiece in the middle of the entertainment development. Just 15 minutes from downtown, the hotel offers easy access to the South Texas Medical Center and Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

The Details
Elegant guest rooms are decorated in striking gold and black. Although it is a favorite with business travelers, this hotel offers plenty of leisurely pursuits, including an extensive spa. Guests who want to work off some of the Tex-Mex food for which the city is famous should stop by the front desk and pick up a "Get Fit Kit." The kit includes a mat and equipment for working out in your room.

We enjoyed our stay here immensely. Decor is very Bombay Company. I like luxurious hotel bathrooms when I travel, and the Omni did not disappoint. And for a couple of stressed-out tiny-apartment-dwelling New Yorkers, the solid wood king-size bed with the high-thread-count sheets was heaven. We stayed here four days and upon our returned each evening, housekeeping had left us Christmas sugar cookies and classical music playing on the radio. The staff at the hotel was gracious, and, even though a candy bar from the honor bar was an outrageous $2.50, we enjoyed the overall relaxing charm of the place so much that we decided not to make a stink about it (what for? We had all those cookies). Also, the hotel's location - on Interstate 10 between 410 and 1604 - was a big plus, since our itinerary included both the Alamo and the Grey Moss Inn.

Pros: location, cleanliness, decor

Cons: old gym equipment

I've been here 24 hours so far, with another day to go and I have to say this place is clean, comfortable and quiet. The location isn't near the downtown attractions, but there are many diversions very close to the hotel. Parking your own car is a breeze and no one pesters you upon driving onto the property, although bellhops are available if you need help with the bags. Plenty of stuff in the room, and if you want to depart with hard-earned money, a $5 bottle of water is available in the self-service bar, although I'm too cheap, so I drink good, old San Antonio tap water. Worth the stay, despite I have no idea what the room cost. My wife is here for a seminar, and I'm on the spouse junket.

Pros: QUIET ROOMS, GREAT PARKING, FOOD CHOICES
