In Short – Colorful yet understated describes the wall decor at this chain restaurant. Patrons order upon entering and then find a table or booth. With soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps and tempting desserts, this deli has something for everyone. Calorie watchers should try the spinach veggie wrap with spinach, sprouts, fresh mushrooms, homemade pico de gallo, guacamole, Asiago cheese, served with a side of fresh fruit, steamed vegetables or potato chips.

Mean manager

by upset guest at Citysearch

I've eaten at many Jason's Delis, as well as numerous other restaruants, but have never run across such a down right mean manager. This one's name, I found out, is Jeremy. He was running the Jason's Deli on loop 1604 off Mossrock in San Antonio. While I was there I witnessed him belittling and berating his own employees "behind their backs," but from where they could hear him. I could never put up with a Narcicistic Czar like that, and I hope his bosses won't either. Jeremy, you're ruining a good place! I'll be back, but only to see if you're gone.

  • Pros: decent food
  • Cons: felt bad for the employees

Great sandwiches and salad bar, but no way a "real" deli

by drdos1943 at Citysearch

When I first arrived in San Antonio, I looked for a New York style deli; and so we stopped into Jason's because "Deli" was in the name. Were we ever disappointed! Jason's "ain't a real deli. (The employees are not rude and they do not throw the food at you; and they don't have potato latkas, cheese blinzes, knedlacht, or borscht on the menu.)

Instead of walking out, my wife and I decided to try it any way. We both ordered corned beef sandwiches. They were huge, just like a real deli; but whatever bread they served was a poor imitation of grocery-store bread that didn't come close to real rye bread.

Reluctantly, we started eating. It was great! The meat was tasty and top quality, actually better than many real deli's we've been to....and there was lots of it. My wife took half her sandwich home and made another out of it the following day.

We've been back to various Jason's and have tried some of their other offerings. So far, we have never been disappointed....except for the bread....I've had to get the idea of real rye bread out of my head in San Antonio.

Really enjoyable

by mac8111 at Citysearch

We have really enjoyed Jason's Deli. Great place for the family. The sandwhiches are original, the soup is great and the kids love getting free soft serve after they finish their plate. The salad bar itself is a great lunch. Wish they would open one closer to our house!
