Hit or Miss. Typically bad service, always bad food, Not typical San Antonio Tex/Mex cooking. Look elsewhere for good SA mexican food. Hwy 281 review.

Made from scratch tortillas!. No matter what you order, fresh made tortillas you get. This place has great food for a fabulous price. Just be aware, you may pass this place up trying to find it, so drive slow when you exit I-10. With 2 locations in SA, this place is a "must eat there" restaurant.

Banquet Buyer Beware - Don't book a banquet here unless you want to throw your money away. My daughter-in-law recently booked a rehersal dinner here. There was no written agreement and the estimate was a max of 40 people. The service was ok but the food was unimpressive and the price excessive for the fare. The real surprise came when I was presented the bill. I was charged for 12 more dinners than diners. The manager claimed that you pay for your estimate not your actual number of diners. Overall, this place is a rip-off. There are better Mexican restaurants in San Antonio and probably better banquet facilities. If you want to throw away your money, then dine here. Obviously the customer is not welcome here.

Best TexMex/Best Service/Best Ambience. My family has eaten here for years. The manager George makes sure that our meals are right. The service is the best I have seen in town. The food is wonderful - not a bad meal on the menu. Freshest chips and tortillas (corn or flour) in town. Tortillas are made in glassed area in front of you. Beer is cold, but their margaritas are not my favorite blend. When you ask for your bill, the staff have it in their apron. Alamo has figured out that good service equals to fast turn of tables, lessening the wait for others. I have never, by the way, waited more that 10 minus for a table. Usually, there is no wait at all. Plenty of seats for groups to. Highly recommended.

Preface your meal by standing at the window, looking on as tortillas are tossed and baked.. Atmosphere
A cozy courtyard of flowing ponds, greenery and wrought iron chairs encloses the entrance to the Tex-Mex cafe. Walking inside is only an extension of the exterior, with realistic clouds painted on the ceiling. Seating is available on two levels, with outdoor patios on each floor. The reasonably priced food and casual atmosphere are ideal for families.

Tortillas Anyone?
Everything at Alamo Cafe is homemade, from the endless tortillas, chips and salsa, to the sizzling fajitas and chicken fried steaks. And, if you're still hungry, try the apple cinnamon empanadas. These mouth-watering turnovers are filled with cinnamon-laced baked apples and served with Oregon blackberry syrup and vanilla ice cream. The aroma of fresh-baked tortillas, scrumptious frozen margaritas, and delectable desserts mix in the air, making Alamo Cafe a fragrant dining experience.

great place to eat. We stopped at Alamo Cafe on Sunday and were worried when we saw how full the parking lot was. Once inside we had no wait time for our table, our sever was fantastic and the food arrived quickly. Everything was delicious.....no complaints at all!

Alamo Cafe Review. Alamo Cafe is always busy, yet you never wait more than 10-15 minutes even on the busiest nights. I go at least once a month for the past 4 years, and I have only had one problem with service. But the management was quick to make ammends with 5 free future dinners. The food is outstanding and I highly recommend Alamo Cafe. And opt for the outdoor seating in nice weather!
