EXCELLENT DAILY SPECIAL
by mcdoll1 at Citysearch
I am a Chinese and moved here from Houston about year and half ago. I love to eat and always looking for good Chinese restaurants. Compare to Houston, I know my chance are not very good. I went to one of the top rated Chinese restaurant to eat last week and the owner told me about Pearl Inn. They will go to eat at Pearl Inn when they want some Cantonese style Chinese food. I thought a famous Chinese restaurant owner come here to eat it has to be good. I am glad that I pay them a visit today. The outside of restaurant need some face lift, but inside are very nicely decorated. It looks much better than a lot of Chinese restaurants I have visited in the past. I heard it is owned and operated by a couple from Hong Kong. Husband attends the Kitchen and Wife does everything else. I found her very pleasant and friendly. It does take a while to get your food, but you know it is freshly prepare by an expert. They serve daily special for $5 include main dish, fried rice, egg roll and ice tea. If you want soup it is $1 extra. It serves until 5:00pm and all day on Sunday. There are a lot of choices. I ordered something off the menu which is Singapore style fried rice noodle so if you like something even is not on the menu make sure ask. I also ordered the fish with Jalapeño and combination fried rice. They are all very good. I thought my fish will be some kind of fried fish nugget but no they are actually big piece of fish fillet. For $5, I can’t believe it. My Singapore noodle is delicious with just right amount of heat. It might be too hot for someone else but I love spicy food. The amount of the food is huge. I ordered three dishes. I got three big Styrofoam containers full of food and all for $20. They can last me for a week. Pearl Inn server a lot of typical dishes plus a lot of Cantonese style dishes and they also have a lot of Hunan and Sichuan style dishes as well. I prefer Pearl Inn than Kim Wah on Bandera and Phoenix on West Ave. Kim Wah is too expensive and they do not give you a lot of food. Phoenix is kind of dirty inside and the foods are nothing special.
Pearl Inn Chinese Restaurant

I agree there is no call for the rudeness exemplifed by the waiting staff very unprofessional. When I questioned the price on the bill I was told that the price posted was not right on the menu and that is the way it is. She wasy very ugly and lacks the key ingredient that all businesses thrive on and that is "good friendly service" which not only retains but brings other customers as well. Those that gave the restaurant a good review that is your prerogative. My experience was horrible and I will not be returning no matter how good and cheap the food is....and if asked will let people know....
Very good food at a great price!

Believe me, I know good Chinese food, and this is GOOOOOOOOOOOOD Chinese food! I now go there so often I don't even have to order...they just bring me my favorite dish. They also --- Mama Pearl, Papa Pearl, Daughter Pearl and Son Pearl --- treat me like family when I go.
No better Chinese, no better price, no better service!

Show me just ONE other place where I can get all the GOOD Chinese food I can eat for less than SIX DOLLARS!
You CAN'T...and that's a fact!
Decor SCHMEcor! Who the heck cares?
This is a very pleasant, very clean place, and the entire family treats every customer VERY well. That and the prices and the SUPER Chinese food keep me going back again and again!
IIf you're critical of this place, then you're going to be griping about the clouds, the wings and the harp music some place else later on....MAYbe!
