I called Aramendia's Lackland phone number about a yard leak that I had. I was able to describe the problem over the phone with what I thought the problem was and where the plumber(s) could find the leak. They took my credit card information and an estimate range between $225 - $275 for that kind of a job. Only 20 hours later a couple of very young employees arrived at my home and began working. They found the leak exactly where I had mentioned over the telephone. The leaking or broken fitting was covered by less than one foot of dirt. The leaking fitting was cut out and replaced using two 1" couplings, 1" Tee, 1" X 3/4" bushing, 3/4" Street El, 3/4" nipple. The time spent on the job was approximately 45 minutes. Two days later I received an invoice from the company to the tune of $325. Just for fun, I took a walk through Home Depot for a price comparison. I found all the needed fittings and the price came to $18.28 for the above mentioned fittings. I would have needed to have rented a Sawzall to make my two cuts, and bought a round point shovel for $13.49. For the price of the fittings, Sawzall rental and buying a shovel and doing the job myself, I could have (and should have) done the job for under $50. Plus, I would have set the sod aside, then removed the dirt so when it came time to close up the work area, I would have shoveled back the dirt then placed and stepped the sod back in place as opposed to leaving a sloppy mud hole where the work had taken place at. I feel the $325 price is excessive for replacing a fitting. Good thing I didn't have to have these guys dig up a septic tank. I've learned two valuable lessons, next time I'll do it myself. And I'll never call Aramendia again.

Pros: Fixed the problem

Cons: Costly for work performed

The plumbers arrived when they said they would. They did the job quickly and appears correctly. Their price was comparable to the other companies contacted.
