Tips for Angel Of Mercy Animal Critical

AWFUL! My dog was spayed 6 days prior and I put her in a boarding facility to stay overnight so that she would not aggravate her wound while I was out of town. At 5am I recieved a phone call that my dog was taken to Angel of Mercy vet clinic without my permission. While the clinic had me on the phone-they stated that my dogs wound had opened up and they were going to have to redo her sutures and it would cost about 400 dollars.(Keep in mind that the initial surgery for my dog to get spayed was 200 dollars) After rushing back into town to pick up my dog-I was charged $55.00 for the office visit, 20 dollars for them to sedate my dog, 25 dollars for them to "clean" her incision, 30 dollars to bandage her incision, 25 dollars because she stayed in the hospital for over 4 hours, 6 dollars for a biohazard waste disposal, and 22 dollars for antibiotics, and 16 dollars for an E-collar. This all added up to 200 dollars. When I actually saw my dog-she was FINE. I had no problem paying for the visit to check the wound and paying for the medication to make sure the wound did not get infected. Her wound was not open, and I payed more for them to clean it and wrap an ace bandage around her waist. They felt that this warranted sedating her. I called the office manager this afternoon to inquire about some of the charges and she was VERY rude and not at all willing to refund any of the money (even though I was not present to authorize any of the treatment) My dog was fine and in no danger and I had to pay these people 200 dollars. The office manager's name is Mary and by the end of our conversation she was yelling at me. I am very thankful that the clinic cared for my pet, however, I do believe that I was overcharged and I was not appreciative about how the office manager handled my concerns considering I was not there in person to authorize any of the treatment for my animal. Do not go to this place unless you want to drop a big chunk of change!!!!! I have taken other animals to the emergency vet hospital on Huebner and 1-10 and they were WONDERFUL.

Repeated Customer. I have had to use Angel of Mercy on several occasions and would not know what I would have done if they did not exist. I love Dr. Ridder and her staff always treats my pets as if they were their own. Yes, they do charge me more than my regular vet does but that cost is nothing in comparison to the love and care that they provide.

Compassionate Care. I came to Angel of Mercy on a holiday weekend and was very satisified with the service I had received. Not only was the staff friendly (despite having to work on a holiday) but their prices were very reasonable and Dr. Ridder was honest and down-to-earth. My cat was diagnosed with terminal cancer and without Dr. Ridder, I wouldn't have been able to spend as much quality time with her at home before having to make the hardest decision of my life to put her to sleep. All in all, I spent about $600 for a full diagnostic work-up and outpatient treatment, which is very good considering the specialty vet quoted me over twice that amount! I hope to never go through that again but I am comforted by the fact that there are actually people out there that care more about client and patient care rather than money.

Will definitely refer people here!. My cat became extremely ill one night after my vet had already closed. I really didn't like the thought of having to go some place where I was not familiar with the staff, but had no other choice. My vet recommended Angel of Mercy on the answering machine at their office. So I called and told them I was on my way.

The staff were very quick to get me checked in and I was speaking with the doctor before I knew it. The doctor made sure to give me several options for treatment, but in the end I chose to put her down to end her suffering. They made me feel very comfortable and at peace with my decision. Overall I feel that they were compassionate and understanding, which is exactly what I needed since this was one of the toughest decisions I've ever had to make!

The worst Vet service. Ignores state and Federal Laws!. Our 9 week old puppy started having seizures cobined with a blank stare. No blinking or curiousity that a puppy usually shows. My wife brought the dog to Angel of Mercy and after initial exam they first stated the dog was seizing at this time and needs an IV with Vallium($150). That was denied so instead they placed the dog in an O2 cage(didn't offer or state cost but charged us for it). Vet presented list of diagnostic tests that need to be performed combined with the outrageous price tag. He stated that if we opted to put the puppy down, it is a "candidate for rabies testing". My wife stated she would bring the puppy home and hope all is well.

Our poor puppy expired that night. Upon contacting Angel of Mercy in the morning concerning the rabies testing they stated they are an overnight clinic only and are closing so we need to contact our normal vet. 15 different vet clinics and two different Animal Control Services offices were contacted trying to obtain a way of getting this test done and no luck. We received a call back from the vet at Angel of Mercy saying he was contacted and that we can put the corpse on ice and bring it in after 6pm and pay the testing fee($75).

That to me was unacceptable! I went to the local Animal Control Office and talked with Asst Director. He stated that vet saying chance of rabies should of had the dog put down and immediate processing for testing for the virus. Any other action taken to include allowing us to leave with the animal is against state laws.

ACS is conducting the test to provide me the needed information to save my family but they requested all the information we received from this clinic.

AMAZING, CARING, ATTENTIVE SERVICE. I took my dog to Angel of Mercy last night because I had suspected that she had eaten rat poison and she was hemorrhaging heavily . They were short staffed but I was seen in no time at all. The tech Steven, Dr. Dale Wingfield, and the receptionist were all impeccable and caring people! After the proper blood tests were run and the vet came out to show me the results that he had printed out, he could have easily scared me (being that I have no veterinary training) into shelling out money for a blood transfusion with the platelet counts that I saw. Instead, he was assuring that although they were low they were not transfusion low. He was very thorough in explaining all the results and the care that I needed to perform for her. I am so grateful for the honest and caring staff!!! They turned a very scared woman into a relieved one and now my dog will live!

CARES ONLY FOR MONEY. by Christina 03/06/2011

DOESNT CARE ABOUT ANIMALS, JUST MONEY!!!!!!! I took my dog in because of a large cut on her foot. After accusing me that it had been a longer time from the time of her accident, they came out with a bill over 1500 dollars. They told me she needed surgery and skin grafts and probably wouldnt be able to even walk. After I told them I did not have that kind of money and they would not take payments, they poorly wrapped her foot back up. After informing them of exactly how much money I had available at the time the bill was amazingly exactly that amount, for a shot of pain killers, a shot of antibiotics and told me that if I didnt have the money I should put her down. I then had to take her home while she was LEAVING A BLOOD TRAIL on the ground because they wouldnt even attempt to stitch her closed. I wrapped the wound myself and changed the badages myself over the next few weeks and it is now almost completely healed and she can walk fine. They even admitted to me that they charge more. They take advantage of people in their time of desperation and heartache when a family memeber is hurt. I will let everyone I know to not go back to this vet that only cares about the money and not the animal.

Do not take your pet here, Dr. Babbitt was rude. I took my little dog in on a Sunday with labored breathing. We got in to see thevet pretty quick. I guess the more distressed you appear about your pet, the more the appear to prey on yor pocket book. Thats my impression only. Well, I got this $1200 estimate and was told it still may not help my dog. So, after he literally told me he needed a deposit or basically,"show me the money" attitude, I told him give me the necessary meds to get him through the day and night which he did do and we paid him $332.07 for xrays , oxygen, visit and a couple of pills. I took the records he gave me to my vet and she said it didn't look as bad as he was prtraying. She did labs which showed an infection. This Dr. Babbitt wanted to do xrays first and foremost. I have to say I am pleased I did not let him get to me and took my dog to his regular vet.

Quick and Upfront Service!. Our regular vet is usually closed over the weekend. When we woke up on Sunday morning, we found that our dog had vomited blood near his food and water bowls. We didn't know what time it had happened, but we wanted to get him seen right away. The techs at Angel of Mercy were great. They saw him right away, check for the obvious, and then informed us about what it could be - ranging from something minimal to something critical. They were also upfront about the cost of possible tests and what tests were considered optional, recommended, and necessary.

The tech were super friendly with him, and when they were done, they also send over the records to our regular vet for follow-up. This is the only time he's had an emergency!

Thanks!

BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!. DO NOT GO THERE! Our lab was bitten by a snake so we took her there because her face was swollen and she was in pain, other than that she seemed ok. There was no one there so they took her back right away, we were impressed, but wondered why they would take her without us. They called us and said that they needed to sedate our dog because she became aggressive (not like her). We were told the vet would come and talk to us, he came in, worst bedside manners ever. He came in and tried to give us the scare technique, told us of all possibilities all extremely drastic, (I could read his pitch, and I was sickened, he is suppose to be a doctor for animals not a sales person!) After he was done with his sales pitch, they came in with a $1500 estimate, I would pay whatever it took, but I could read thru him after we didn't fall for it, they came in with 3 other "estimates". I finally just said her something for pain and I will keep an eye on her. $109 for giving her a shot. We took her in the morning to her regular vet she said our lab was doing good all her vitals were good (didn't need sedation) but was in a lot of discomfort, she kept her for the day gave her antibiotics, anti-inflammatory meds, pain meds, all for under $200. And today she is doing great, just 48 hours later, most of the swelling is better. I wonder how many people are scared at Angel of Mercy (what a joke), and end up spending unnecessary amounts of money. BEWARE of the SALES PERSON VET. To be fair, to the clinic it may only be the one vet I encountered Rob Coke, but if so they must evaluate the people that represent the hospital.

**ALSO NOTICE HOW THE ONLY GOOD REVIEWS ARE NO NAME REVIEWS, HMM, MAKES ONE WONDER!
