Quick and Upfront Service! – Our regular vet is usually closed over the weekend. When we woke up on Sunday morning, we found that our dog had vomited blood near his food and water bowls. We didn't know what time it had happened, but we wanted to get him seen right away. The techs at Angel of Mercy were great. They saw him right away, check for the obvious, and then informed us about what it could be - ranging from something minimal to something critical. They were also upfront about the cost of possible tests and what tests were considered optional, recommended, and necessary.
The tech were super friendly with him, and when they were done, they also send over the records to our regular vet for follow-up. This is the only time he's had an emergency!
BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! – DO NOT GO THERE! Our lab was bitten by a snake so we took her there because her face was swollen and she was in pain, other than that she seemed ok. There was no one there so they took her back right away, we were impressed, but wondered why they would take her without us. They called us and said that they needed to sedate our dog because she became aggressive (not like her). We were told the vet would come and talk to us, he came in, worst bedside manners ever. He came in and tried to give us the scare technique, told us of all possibilities all extremely drastic, (I could read his pitch, and I was sickened, he is suppose to be a doctor for animals not a sales person!) After he was done with his sales pitch, they came in with a $1500 estimate, I would pay whatever it took, but I could read thru him after we didn't fall for it, they came in with 3 other "estimates". I finally just said her something for pain and I will keep an eye on her. $109 for giving her a shot. We took her in the morning to her regular vet she said our lab was doing good all her vitals were good (didn't need sedation) but was in a lot of discomfort, she kept her for the day gave her antibiotics, anti-inflammatory meds, pain meds, all for under $200. And today she is doing great, just 48 hours later, most of the swelling is better. I wonder how many people are scared at Angel of Mercy (what a joke), and end up spending unnecessary amounts of money. BEWARE of the SALES PERSON VET. To be fair, to the clinic it may only be the one vet I encountered Rob Coke, but if so they must evaluate the people that represent the hospital.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE – I took my dog to this hospital after I noticed he was limping. The staff was very friendly (which put me at ease and helped me trust them - BEWARE). They were very professional and super friendly and great with my dog. $350.00 later I was told that my dog needed surgery. Of course I was shocked. They do not do surgery there so I would have to bring my dog to my regular vet.
What I was overcharged for. Dr. Zachary told me that she had to take x-rays and then had to push my dogs leg back into its socket, because the hip was out of its socket. She was so proud of herself. She saved the day pushed a clot out of his leg and charged me tons of money. Well, she told me to dope up my dog until he gets into the vet. $350.00 and I believed her.
Took my dog to the regular vet to find out the hip was fine. She did nothing at all. The x-rays that they gave me showed nothing wrong with his hips. He pulled a muscle and is 100% better.
All in all they are crooks, they had me fooled. I thought that they were taking care of my dog but instead they were taking care of their wallets.
Traumatic Experience! – My 11 year old daughter and I brought our puppy in to Angels of Mercy for bloody stools, labored breathing, inability to eat/drink. We waited and waited as others who seemed less critical were seen. I told the receptionist that I didn't think our puppy would make it through the night if she wasn't seen asap. The receptionist took yet another pet back before us. After we waited for for over an hour, the receptionist informed us that there was no more room in the back and she needed to refer us to another emergency clinic. "she definately needs to be seen tonight, so take her to the fredricksburg road hospital" we were told as my daughter cried (we knew she was slipping away and suffering). We didn't even make it half way to the fredricksburg road hospital before our puppy took her last breath in my daughters arms. How traumatic for her.
I called the office to tell them that our puppy died and the receptionist said "oh my God, so sorry." Our puppy suffered an agonizing death and we were turned away from a veterinary emergency clinic that is supposed to be there to help. And all they could say was sorry. How sad.
Either way, they didn't triage well at all, and let the puppy die in pain. The least they could have done is see the animal, diagnose and offer pain meds or to put him down so he didn't have to suffer more.
Very caring staff! – Wonderful experience! They are a great animal emergency room!! I highly recommend! They have a great, caring staff!
