Bugs! On more than 1 ocassion – Ok found a fly in my soup about 6 months ago which I thought was a fluke but today there were several ants on the table we were sat at. We let the server know, she moved us to a different table but immediately sat someone else there. FYI still found an ant on the next table. I love the food there but will not be returning.
ok, food. not authentic – i love thai food, but this restaurant fell short compared to others. it reminded me of chinese food more than thai. it didn't taste bad, just not authentic. if you're scared of trying thai for the first time, this might be a stepping stone for you. again, it wasn't bad. but the sauce on the dish i ordered (i can't remember the name) were kind of thick and sweet when it's meant to be thinner and more savory. and the chicken was a little bit tough. but the flavors and spices are tasty.
Long-Standing Customer Not Returning – I've been going to Thai Taste for years. I will not be returning, since on several occassions the service has been poor and down-right rude. When asking for water, the waitress yelled across the room "I heard you!" She sent over another person to wait on us thereafter. We in no way brought this about, and actually the people we were with were extra nice (when they really had a leg to stand on in being more critical). This is not worth the"hassle" as you go out to eat to have fun, not get stressed, dissed, and made into a negative experience. F --and like I said, we're not returning.
Best Tom Kha (coconut lemon grass soup) – LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their soup! IT is the absolute best. A MUST have weekly!
This is STILL one of the BEST Thai places in SA – I've eaten here for four years, and introduced many friends and family to it. Yes, the ambiance is a bit "seedy" but I expect that helps keep the prices so very reasonable. Bland food? No possible way, unless you ordered from their rather "Chinese" selections with a spicy rating of zero. The flavors are exceptional on the Thai dishes, and even though I was raised in San Antonio, on spicy Mexican food, a 3 is as spicy as I choose to go! I have always found their service to be very fast and friendly, quite professional. I have had adult children in food service, and it's my experience that you get what you give. If you are rude or unfriendly, you won't get very friendly service, so I suggest others smile and say "please" and "thank you!"
Not the best in town – I went here and didn't know what to expect, but found the food to be very bland and untraditional. Which is sad because Thai food should be full of flavor. In fact even looking at the featured dish, Thai taste seems to be more of a chinese/thai restaurant. Thai food should never be served on fried rice with an egg roll!!! But if you're not into authencity then you may be pleased.
THE place to go for great Thai Food. – I eat at Thai Taste often, I always go back for the great food. As the critic review says, the soups are a must - there is no better hot and sour anywhere...and I mean that. The food is always flavorful even as you add spice, always good for the palette. I recommend the Pad Woonsen (My Favorite), Pad King, Pad Thai, and the Pineapple Fried Rice (Yum!). However long I have been going there the staff has always had a great attitude. They have great lunch prices and always enjoy going for dinner.
Cheap. – After hearing so many positive things about this place, I was excited to finally try it out with a friend. The place looked like a cheap Mexican restaurant (plastic cups, paper mats, the booth was torn.) The atmosphere was a big turn-off. Once the food came out, I was not impressed. Neither of us enjoyed our food enough to recommend this to anyone. This is not the place to go if you're looking for good Thai food.
Worst Service – Very very very bad service. The waiting staff can be more polite and smile at people who are not white. Good food, but how can I go there if they treat me like s**t!!!!!!!!!!!!!. My below average rating is just for the bad service and not for the food.
God blessed this place – the food here, as well as the service, is among the absolute BEST! i've ever had. i've been all over the world and the food here is the amazing. i've invited numerous friends to eat here and each of them have loved it and frequent Thai Taste on a weekly basis. I just want to say to the person that had a bad experience that you are the the ONLY person to have a bad experience, they have never messed up my order all 100+ times i've eaten there, NOT once! The waiting staff is very professional and courteous.
just remember that the "spicy" scale is a bit skewed...5 is very spicy and 10 is for someone with a deathwish. :-)
i wish could rate Thai Taste a 10.
TT ROCKS! SUCKAAA!!!!!
