The Scene – Golden Wok's interior is stylishly accented with painted bamboo and calligraphic upholstery and houses spacious booths and tables swathed in a warm light. Dim sum (Cantonese for "a bit of heart") is the reason to visit Golden Wok and while the presentation isn't authentic--typically waitresses roll by with carts of mouthwatering morsels from which patrons choose--the unique tastes are undiminished and hold up well in comparison to the great dim sum offerings available in New York and elsewhere. – – The Food – Dim sum choices include a variety of…

Super-good food!

I've been looking for Honey Walnut Shrimp in San Antonio ever since Buffet King Chinese closed a couple of years ago. Although Golden Wok does not have Honey Walnut Shrimp, they do have an excellent Walnut Shrimp, and I often go there to enjoy it. I have never been even slightly disappointed, either with the food or the service.
Golden Wok Review

I was very excited to try the food at the Golden Wok after reading the reviews, but was quickly disappointed after first tasting the Won Ton soup, which was flavorless.
I ordered Orange beef, extra spicey, which had no heat what so ever. It tasted like unseasoned beef in an odd tasting ketchup. My friend's daughter ordered sweet and sour pork, which was significantly over salted,
The dim sum was however very good, along with the pot stickers. This part of the meal was great.
The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. She removed the offending orange beef off of the bill and was willing to try to make the meal a sucess.
I would recommend sticking with the appetizers and dim sum and not ordering an entree.
Just OK

Good for San Antonio but average for any other big city. They are pricey and once when ordering out they wanted a dollar for some ginger soy to take with us?!
Seriously addictive

I've been going to this place for probably over 10 years- delicious! Was a little hurt years ago when they had a menu change because a few of my favorite dishes were put to rest :( But the real reason I go back?? Their Hot and Sour soup is THE best I've ever had!! Don't know whats in there, but its completely different from anywhere else. Great! I'm salivating on my keyboard.
- Pros: Food
- Cons: Menu changed
