Last Time. I just dropped my 2 cats off at Rob Cary today. It is the 2nd time I've boarded them there and it is the absolute last. Here's the deal folks: if you're not a "people person", you shouldn't work behind a desk where you have to deal with people all day long.

I remember the last time I boarded my cats here, I was very unhappy with how I was treated (so how can I trust that these people will treat my cats any better than they do their customers?). But I thought I'd give them a 2nd chance, and I really wish I hadn't. They are the most rude, uncommunicative, cold people I've ever met (and 1 of the people I dealt w/today said he was a manager!). I felt so bad leaving my 2 best buddies there. I went to say goodbye to them and I noticed that there was nothing in their little cages for them to sleep on - just the cold, hard floor. Also, my cats get extremely stressed when I have to board them, so I wanted to leave them their brush and pay extra for a little "cuddle time" so they could get brushed, but I was told that the groomers have to do that, so 1) it's even more $, and 2) they won't use my kitties' brush, which is the thing that relaxes them, so what's the point of just having them "groomed"? They are SO not about the animals there. They won't even give you a quote over the phone for boarding - you have to total it up yourself. Ridiculous.

At least it gave me the incentive to search for some other places closer to me and, hopefully, better (I can't see how they could be any worse). To boot, they have these signs up above the desk encouraging their customers to be nice TO THEM! How hypocritical can you get? Talk about adding insult to injury. I left very stressed and very upset. It's not worth it.

Never Again. Decided to give them a try after looking at their website and all the things they offer.

My English Bulldog has seizures and is on prescription medication. I brought enough pills for one evening and one morning.

When i picked up my dog they brought my dog and left over pills!! There wasnt suppose to be any leftover pills! I even left a card in the ziplock with the pills instructing them how many to give.

I asked for a manager and told her that my dog could have had a seizure and/or died. All she said was "sorry", no customer service skills, no attempt to rectify the situation or refund my money. Terrible!

And there are none of them left in your company, Tami manager is manager she can not tell other people what to do she does it her self You need to get back in to the bussiness and see what the day to day operation is and work wioth the people and get some of your old people back .

Tried twice but Never Again. First visit our dog was brought out with poo on her coat they cleaned her up with alcohol swabs and sprayed a little perfume on her. Since this place was recommended by a friend we decided we would try them one more time. The second vist they didnt groom our dog very well and when we complained the groomer explained to us that this was the way the dog needed to be groomed. This was odd since the first time they groomed her correctly. We got NO apology and were left standing in the lobby with our dog.

Rob Cary Pet care. I am a long time employee at Rob Cary and as someone who takes pride in her work I was quite upset to read the negative comments. I can assure you that any activity not in the best interest of our guests is promptly addressed and severely dealt with. Such behavior is simply not tolerated and while I would never condone any such incidents occurring I am confident these are extremely isolated instances. Unfortunately, right or wrong, it is usually these isolated instances that get the headlines and not the positives that extremely outweigh the negatives. That is not meant to excuse the negatives but to put the proper emphasis on the positives that have been associated with Rob Cary for over 30 years. Any business that is open to the public faces the exposure of an employee not doing things the right way. That is why employees get fired. It then becomes the employer's responsibility to take prompt, corrective action, which we do. Tamsie, Supv Special Care.

Gary is the Greatest. I was blessed to become the owner of Athena, my 4 yr old, 85 lb. German Shepherd. She was a rescue dog and I was her FOURTH owner. She was extremely sweet to people, but highly reactive to any and every dog we came into contact with. I had not had a dog in 25 years. I really didn't know where to start, so I made arrangements for a private lesson with Gary Oswalt. He evaluated her and gave me hope that I too could be trained. We have been going to his classes for 16 months because my GSD needs to be socialized on a regular basis. I also go because I can discuss any problems that I may be experiencing due to my lack of knowledge. Gary always takes his time to patientlly explain or recommend how I can accomplish my goals. He never makes me feel that my questions are too simple or that I should be able to figure it out on my own. He is direct in his approach to help you and your dog. And honesty is what I want. The support of fellow handlers in the class is also a plus. As they know what we all face as owners who love their dogs and want them to become good companions. I took Athena to Colorado last summer after about 9 mns of classes and she was a delight. She was finally getting "it" about other dogs. She became certified by Gary last Sept for a Canine Good Citizen. I will continue to take her as I have learned that it is never to late for both of us to learn something new. I know that Gary does this for the love of dogs because he can never be paid enough to get the results that I have gotten. Thanks Gary!!!

Highly recommend training at Rob Cary - specifically Gary O.!!. I've not had the occasion to use the boarding facilities at Rob Cary, but my rottweiler and I have been training there for almost three years now. My dog and I were matched up to Gary, after the front office staff met me, and heard the training challenges I was facing with my adolescent male dog. They could not have paired me with a better trainer, and I'm quite sure Gary's expertise and positive training methods, quite literally saved my dog's life. I have and will continue to recommend Rob Cary's training program, as well as Gary specifically, to anyone who asks about dog training facilities/options in the San Antonio area.

As with all things of any importance, when trusting your companion animals to someone else, you should do your homework, to include a visit the facility prior to needing their services, and ask for fellow customer referrals. Any reputable facility will be more than willing to share that information, and more than willing to show you full access of their kennels.

And while we all wish we were the only human worthy of attention at the moment in time we demand it - sometimes, we have to be patient and wait our turn.......keep that in mind when checking in and out your pet during a busy period for boarding.

Don't come to check in/out your pet if your schedule is tight to begin with - allow proper time, so the process is as non-stressful for your pet, as yourself. The staff at Roby Cary will likely smile at you for the consideration ;o) You are only one of several hundred they are likely assisting that day.

cant get any better. Me and my husband have been boarding our dogs at Rob Cary for over 15 yrs. We have done tours many times and have seen the clean facilities and also have taken many different classes there ranging from puppy training, obedience and agility training. We have also been through private lessons with Gary who is very talented and motivated working with dogs of every breed. The moment we pull into their parking lot our dogs get very excited. The front office staff have always made us feel welcomed and warm. Especially the Ken Techs that check in our babies. Our dogs have always came home clean and fresh whether or not they get groomed. Yes, sometimes their toys don't always come back or in the same condition. I would rather keep boarding our dogs at Rob Cary and having them groomed there than having someone come into my home when we are not there. At least we know that they are safe, secure, loved and respected in every possible way imagined. We could never go anywhere else other than Rob Cary. We are very appalled by reading all of these negative reviews. No, not everything we do in life is going to be perfect, but over the years we have never seen any customer get upset over their service. If anything its because their dogs chewed up and/or destroyed their toys or soiled the bedding. We hope that these negative reviews are not just a matter of disgruntled customers trying to bash Rob Cary. Never in our right minds would we believe that they have horrible customer service or are EVER abusive to animals. They are very kind and caring people there, especially since they have animals of their own and would not treat them any differently.

Best pet resource for our family.. Always friendly staff. So easy to park, pick up valued dog food and supplements, and get on with the day. Important part of our lives. Don't know what we'd do without Rob Carey.

Behind the scenes. I used to take my dog here for all services, one occasion changed that for sure! I have a larger dog who stays in the kennels in the rear. It was mid day when I went to pick her up from a three night stay. There were two extremely rude girls at the front desk. Neither was with a customer, but one was blabbing away on her cell phone while the other looked at me and turned around. Already upset, I noticed the manager walked up to the counter and she ignored me too. I finally threw my leash on the counter and asked for service. The girl on her phone put the phone on her shoulder and tried to check me out. After waiting 15 minutes for my dog to come up, I was upset when they brought up a full bag of dog food for a sensitive stomach. They had fed her the wrong food her entire stay. She was covered in diarreah and nobody could give me an explanation. The manager wouldn't even come out of her office to talk to me. My dog needed to use the bathroom so bad I just left. As we walked back to the car, I noticed some kennel workers were yanking this poor dog into the building. It even yelped and tumbled over the leash. I was so disgusted. Who knows how they treat the poor animals behind closed doors. They will never get the opportunity to hurt my baby again!
