Eat at your own risk.
We ate here and got sick. Only later did I learn of the bad Health Dept. record.

A nice place to drink a cold beer and gaze at the big Texas sky..
The Barbecue
The menu offers more than just standard barbecue joint favorites by way of a catfish dinner and a range of appetizers including cheese fries and stuffed jalapenos. The focus, however, is barbecue, and you can smell the mesquite from the parking lot. Let's talk turkey?moist, tender, and flavorful?definitely the star of the barbecue combo plate and rivaled only by Rudy's and Greenberg's. In true Texas style, the turkey is perfect before you add Tommy Wilson's barbecue sauce which, by the way, would make an old leather boot taste good.
The Place
Clad with cow print table clothes and plenty of neon, the historic Wetmore general store (built in 1884)looks and feels like a Texas roadhouse. The comfortable, homey feel spills out onto the back porch where picnic tables surround a corner stage.

I agree with everything you said except that it's OAK not mesquite. I think it's the love you were smelling in the parking lot!!!
Thanks for the review,

Worth the trip from Oklahoma.
Although I live in Tulsa Oklahoma, I recently visited a friend in San Antonio and was recomended to this restaraunt. I found the brisket to be not only moist, but also had a flavor not found at most BBQ restaurants. In my opinion, the best BBQ I had eaten in quite a while. The portions were very generous, making this a good overall value. I plan to eat there again on my next trip to town.
