BEST SALON EVER!. I went to K Charles because a friend had suggested it, she has amazing hair so I figured I would try it out! Im an avid aveda user and i had high expectations. As soon I walked in the door of the salon, I was blown away, it was just beautiful and seemed so "aveda". They high end feel was there, but it was relaxed, just right... I got my hair cut and I finaly caved and got highlights, and I have never had better hair in my life! It seems like a daily occurance that I get compliments on my hair, I am SO thrilled with it! I reccomend this salon to any and everyone! I even got a free hand massage, that was wonderful! Try K Charles now! You wont regret it. !
LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT. i absolutely LOVED this salon!! they offer a variety of added services such as mini hand massages and lip treatments. i have never expierienced any salon like this one. They do a facilitation program in which you see more than one person, i think that is a brilliant idea. It helps me to get in when i need and my stylist still overlooks the whole thing. I would definetly recommend this salon to everyone. They have three convient locations, Stone Oak, Broadway, and Spring Branch!!!!
Worst place ever!. I wont even begin to go into detail about the horrible customer service and terrible results. I'll simply suggest HAIR STUDIO SONTERRA!!!!! Won't ever try K. Charles again even if I was paid to do so.
There are 3 locations!.
First off this is a high end salon, not a small town sit with the same stylist for every service and spend all day there salon. K. Charles is known for being able to facilitate services to other stylists to better accomidate their guests, and they do this so you can recieve your services in a more reasonable time frame. Plus they get twice as many guests into the salons by facilitating services to other team members, and they do not allow any tipping because you usually see so many different team members. If you feel that the Stone Oak salon is too fast paced and unpersonable they do have two smaller salons, one off of 281 and Spring Branch, and one off of Broadway and Sunset. These salons are smaller and more able to accomidate the guest and provide a more personal service. Vanessa by the way is not the manager at Stone Oak, the manager there is a former stylist named Chris. Chris is very professional, although sometimes misunderstood. I will admit that some of the staff at the call center is careless, and misinformed, however, I believe if they actually worked at a salon and understood how everything worked they would be much more professional and informed on the guest's needs. I will also say that sometimes a stylist can not grasp what the guest truly wants simply because the guest has either come in with 5 totally different pictures and wants the hair cut or color in every picture! My suggestion there is simple, bring 1 maybe 2 pictures of the exact same cut or color (maybe just at a different angle) and speak as clearly as possible when explaining to the stylist what you really want. By the way, the last thing any stylist wants to ever hear is "I want to keep all of my length, but I want a totally new look!" Its IMPOSSIBLE! But going back to the salon, just remember, every business has its faults, and probably K.Charles biggest fault is hiring young careless people and not sufficiantly training them. That would have to be my only complaint.
A satisfied guest
Management not concerned with pleasing the customer. I have utilized this salon in the past and I recently decided to give it a try again. My daughter needed a trim so I called them and asked how much a kids cut cost. They told me it would be $12. I made an appointment for that same day and took my daughter in. When I went to the front to pay after her 15 minute trim, I was informed that the kids cut was only for those children 5 and under and since my daughter is 7 they would charge regular price which was $25 dollars. I asked to speak to the manager because I would not have brought her in had I known it would cost so much. She basically said too bad - you still need to pay $25. I was misinformed and the management could care less. I paid, left, and promptly canceled my August appointment. Customer satisfaction must not be a priority.
I admit; I am very picky about my hair. That is why I went to the most talked about salon in the city. However, the lower review about this being an Aveda salon in name only is correct. The Master stylist I had was great at coloring but just would not listen to anything I had to say about my hair. She kept insisting it needed to be thinner and I do have a lot of hair but the last time I left there I had a man's haircut when I wanted a short bob. That is even with me bringing in pictures. That particular haircut and color with a highlight cost me $270. It would be worth it if I had the kind of hair that caused people to stop and compliment me on it.
At the end of the day, I just don't know why this is supposed to be that great of a salon. There is nothing in this salon that can justify their outrageous prices. Chairs are uncomfortable and they pack you in like cattle.
Worst place EVER!. Do not go to this salon! I had an appointment for a trim and minor thinning/texturing for my thick, curly hair, with Miranda and although she claimed she was a "perfectionist," she ignored my comments and input and proceeded to thin my hair as if I were a garden hedge. I am getting married in less than 2 weeks and I look like I am balding. I explained which methods of thinning have worked for me in the past and it was clear that she had no idea what she was doing. On top of that, the salon schedules appointments 30 minutes apart and after my hair was washed and conditioned, Miranda had already moved on to another stylist who so desperately needed highlights for some upcoming event. She didn't even offer to style my hair and I left soaking wet. I would not recommend this place, or that stylist, to my worst enemy. Thanks a lot, Miranda!
Difficult Task. After going to the same lady for over 20 years, I was very nervous about going to an unknown place for a hair cut. I arrived about 20 minutes earlier than my appointment time allowing myself to look through magazines to get ideas. Mae came to greet me about 10 minutes after my appointment time. I gave her a difficult task to perform and I honestly didn't expect too much, in order to protect myself from any disappointment that may occur. First, I have unusual amount of thick hair that is hard to control. Secondly, my previous haircut was very difficult to correct. Finally, I had no idea what I wanted. I pretty much left it up to her to do what was necessary. Mae was completely honest with me and told me that she couldn't give me the perfect cut at this time due to the lairs that need to grow out. I understood and agreed to come back to see her at least a few more times in every 6 weeks. She then explained that I would need to commit myself to follow the right steps and dedicate some time everyday to maintain the cut. The actual cut didn't take long but what a difference.... I walked out of there very happy and satisfied with the look Mae gave me. I just hope to maintain it by following the steps she taught me.
Great stylist horrible management. From the moment I made my appointment to a central appointment area to the moment I walked in I was unimpressed. The appointment center is absolutely clueless and has no personality. When I came in the front desk was very unprofessional and lacked personality. Vanessa who I dealt with seemed to be the manager and her personality was just fake and not sincere. The place is suppose to be an Aveda salon but the only thing Aveda about it was the products. No hand massages, no aroma journey, NOTHING! My appointment was rushed and that is what I would expect from a fantastic sam's not a high end salon. People actually leave with their hair wet! I can't believe they offer that service!! My stylist Miranda was amazing and if it wasn't for this salon I would highly recommend her. Unlike everyone else she took her time and figured out what I really wanted. Maybe the others really know their clients but a 30 minute haircut at $60 is ridiculous! Don't be fooled by the product people. THIS IS NOT AN AVEDA SALON!!! If you've been to an Aveda salon you'd know what I was talking about. They did a really good job by taking advantage of the name but not the atmosphere, experience, and professionalism that usually comes with going and paying for Aveda. I'd suggest going somewhere else that cares about more than your money.
Bad experience. I went in for a simple trim - didn't figure it mattered who did it. It was simply getting too long. I had to wait about 45 minutes for my stylist. Fancy joint. Worst haircut of my life, bar none. And I was very specific about what I wanted. My hair was blunt cut and I just wanted a trim. Well, 3 inches later and a lot of "blending" I ended up looking like something out of the 70s. And the right side was longer than the left - markedly. The back looked like a lawnmower went through it. I returned for a "correction" since I figured I paid a lot for a "master" stylist to do the cut, I should get what I wanted. I was told that I would just have to wait for it to grow out because the only way to correct it would be to cut it all off, really short!! However, I should say that the second stylist at least attempted to even out the sides - although I did still have to do quite a bit of correction myself at home with my scissors. Never, never, never again. Sensational Cuts for me - $7.00 and they do it right.
