Editorial Review for Canyon Springs Golf Club – by Eric Geyer

The Scenic Scene
Nominated by Golf Digest and Golf magazine as one of America's best new public golf courses in 1998, Canyon Springs Golf Club has established itself in the upper echelon of local courses. Nestled at the edge of the beautifully formed Texas Hill Country, this 7,077-yard championship course offers terrific scenery as well as a first-class golfing experience.

High-Tech Gadgets
All golf carts are equipped with the state-of-the-art ProLink GPS System, which informs you about the layout of the course, your distance from the hole, and other pertinent information. Unfortunately, it does not tell you which iron to pull out of that bag. You're still on your own there, slick.

Don't Bring Your Own Beer (This Is a Classy Joint)
After 18 long holes of golf, the fully stocked clubhouse bar may be a welcome site. There is also an extensive pro shop, featuring many major brands. Restaurant and banquet room are available for meetings and get-togethers.

Played Jan 2004: I played weekend twilight. One of the best courses in sa. Well kept, beautiful scenery, great staff. I played from the tips and used every club in the bag. My biggest complaint was extremely slow play. My round was 5 hours. The marshall said they pack 'em in for twilight. There was also some construction going on between some of the holes. If you can stand the slow play this is definitely a course you must play. A must play in San Antonio.

Pros: value, scenery, layout

Played Dec of 2003: Course was in great shape and was a very interesting course to play. The course made you make some different style shots, and the beauty of the land was great. The waterfall backdrop on the 18th green is great for group pics. the facility itself was very nice and I plan on having Canyon Springs in my regular rotation. Looks like they offer some pretty good specials if you call and ask.
