I LOVE this place!. You can never go wrong with Club Cohiba, one of our favorite spots. We even had our wedding afterparty here and stayed at the hotel (The Havanna) for our wedding night. It's great! Kinda pricey but worth it.
New Years 2004. Club Cohiba delivered 10 times over on what the review says. A couple friends and I were in from out of town and found this place on the internet. We had a fabulous time, the atmosphere was awesome, the drinks were great and the service was excellent. Looking forward to stopping in again come April for NIOSA.
Nightmare. Club Cohiba recently opened a restaurant in an adjoining space... looks great, but don't bother stepping in. We made reservations well in advance planning for a special event and they denied the reservation ever existed, even though THEY called to confirm. I would describe the service as abysmal if there had been ANY. We literally had to stop one of the many well-dressed employees and beg them to take our order. We left after more than almost two hours... without getting more than half of what we ordered! Simply put, don't bother. Too many other great places to enjoy downtown.
Cool Place. I went there last night with my husband and two friends. We got there about 9:30 and it was still quiet, but by 10:30 the place was packed with people. I liked it because it was a quiet place that allowed you to talk to others without yelling over obnoxious music. The drinks and cigars were great, too! The only complaint I have is that you had to go to the bar for drinks instead of being served by a cocktail waitress.
Casually Cool.
The old-world allure of Club Cohiba is unlike anything else in San Antonio. We often find that women love the concept more than men... no televisions mean he might just have to focus on his date and have a real conversation.
Far from being a hoppin' singles meat market, Cohiba tends to be the place where couples go for their special occasions, knowing that they will be taken care of in elegant, yet comfortable surroundings.
Club Cohiba is better known for playing cool jazz derivative music than afro-Cuban; appeals to the voyeur in us all with its collection of antique mirrors; boasts one of the best collections of fine spirits in town; and wraps guests in leather club chair comfort.
If you like even more privacy with your significant other, try out Club Cohiba Monday thru Thursday from 4-7pm for reasonably priced drinks and a truly intimate experience.
so sexy.
This bar beats any of our local (San Francisco) hangouts - at least since Hamburger Mary's closed - for kooky, comfortable furnishings, eccentric decor, and super sexy staff. Everyone who came in, from us uberhip designers to the Australian divorcees to the 20-something midwestern tourists, immediately fell into a laidback groove, and we were waited on by gorgeous, attentive staff.
Plus they get big points for playing Fela Kuti and Nina Simone on the stereo.
