Nice park to take the kiddos.
We have two children, ages 2 and 5, who love going to McAllister Park. Besides the soccer fields, they have a nice kids play area complete with slides, monkey bars, and climbing wall. We've also used their scenic walking/jogging trails and caught glimpses of deer and other wildlife. Also, scattered throughout the park are picnic tables and small grills for small cook-outs! This place is a lot of fun! Give it a try!

Dog Park Car thefts.
Cars are being burglarized the the parking lot at the dog park inside McAllister park at an alarming rate. Be smart. Leave valuables at home and carry purses, wallets, and cell phones on you. Be aware of where you park, and keep looking for suspicious behavior in the parking lot as you enter, while in the park, and as you leave. Now that that enormous mound of dirt has been spread out for the new soccer fields, the lot is more visible. Spread the word. Don't be a victim. I was this October, 2007.

Convenience is only one reason why so many athletes end up at this park..
Rack It Up
Pulling into McAllister Park's parking lot is like arriving at a Schwinn convention: Spandex, helmets and more Spandex greet you everywhere. You know all those cars with bikes on their roofs? They're all headed here.
Heaven on Wheels
In a city that lacks adequate bike trails, it's no wonder McAllister Park is a mecca for cyclists. On miles of both paved and unpaved trails, mountain bikers and roadies alike can find ample riding terrain amid the scenic, heavy woods.
Heaven on Heels
Beyond biking trails, McAllister Park also boasts hiking trails, playing fields (including a Little League center), picnic facilities and camping sites. If you do plan on camping, be sure to call ahead and make reservations.
